View Full Version : I Need Advice on Choosing a Replacement Windshield for My 2014 Vaquero?

Hello there,

I have been a proud owner of a 2014 Kawasaki Vulcan Vaquero for a few years now; and it is been an amazing ride. Although; I have been having some trouble with the stock windshield. It is just not cutting it for me anymore when it comes to reducing wind buffeting; especially on long highway rides.

I am looking to replace it with something more functional and maybe a bit more stylish; but the options out there are a bit overwhelming.

I have been considering windshields from brands like Clearview; Klock Werks; and Memphis Shades, but I am not sure which one would suit my needs best.

Significantly reduces wind buffeting for both the rider and a passenger.
Does not overly detract from the Vaqueros sleek; aggressive styling.
Provides good visibility in different weather conditions.

For those of you who have replaced your windshields; do you have any recommendations? I am curious to hear what is worked for you. Are there specific sizes or tints you would recommend? Also; did you find installation easy enough to do yourself; or is it better to get it professionally installed?

Thanks in advance for your advice and assistance.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Some people do not like looking through a windshield but I prefer maximum wind protection rather than a windshield that looks cool but does very little to protect the rider from wind or buffeting. I rarely ride in the rain so I like to have a windshield that I can look through but can look over if need be (in the rain) if I straighten my back. When you have determined what length of windshield works for you buy a windshield with a recurve at the top. That should raise the wind up and over your helmet but not obscure your view if you do not like looking through a windshield. Changing a windshield is usually something you can do yourself quite easily but it depends on the motorcycle. Personally I would not want a tinted windshield as I use a full face helmet with a tinted shield. I do not ride in the dark.

I am running the Clearview windscreen on my Voyager and it is awesome, Slightly higher than i want, however it was on the bike when i bought it. Great on the highways and it keeps any kind of wind buffeting away from me and the Mrs. Might consider buying another one with the built in air vent ! I tried the Rifle windscreen on my 2009 Yamaha Stratoliner and it was "ok". was hoping for better performance.

NRider1700, I agree on the Clearview. The recurve kicks the wind up. No buffing at all. Yes, you should try the vented shield. Really helps in the summer months.

clearview with the vent is the only one i can speak on as that's what I put on my '12 vaquero. I love it. blocks literally everything.
