Well, got back from the Utah trip and had some equipment fatalities....

1. My Kuryakyn bullet lights that I so loved and mounted on my blinker bar, shorted out on me during the trip. I woke up one morning to find that the lights didn't work as well as my brake lights. So, got out the tool kit and opened the light bucket and disconnected them for the rest of the trip. It appears that the lights are ok, it's just the wiring from the lights to the bucket shorted out. I've just about decided to either not put any extra lights on or just get the EOM light bar later on.

2. Horn went belly up. It quit working on the last day of the trip. Took it apart this past weekend and found crap all inside it. It works now, but not everytime, so I'll be looking at a Stebel or something else to replace it later.

3. My Garmin GPS decided to kick the bucket. Yep, it is true. Many of the roads in New mexico are like a washboard. Shook the sh!t out of it and it finally has decided to short out. When you turn it on, the screen sticks and none of the menu will work....and it's out of warranty. So, this will give me the perfect opportunity to buy a Garmin Zumo. I've been needing one anyway.

Damn Trip, you better keep that free red Nomad for yourself and NOT mail it out. :-) Think you just got too many electrical appliances on that handlebar??

That's what it is Doc. Hell, I think he even had a fridge set-up in one of his bags.

Why the OEM lightbar and not a Cobra for the price Trip?

I would probably get a Cobra, when I'm ready to get a light bar.

The Kury lights just didn't hold up on the trip to Utah. The lights are OK, it's just the thin wiring. It eventually shorted somewhere and I had to disconnect both lights.

I'm rethinking lighting too. I don't know if I want to re-mount the Kury's in another place or get a Cobra light bar...........or just leave things they way they are.....

This week or next, I'm going to buy the Garmin Zumo 550 to replace my GPS that went belly up on the trip. After I do that, I'll take a long, hard look at lighting.

BTW, you would've been proud of the J&M CB.....It worked like a champ on the trip. So did my MP3 player.

Hey trip. Just an update on my driving lights (sealed beam) that I installed last year on my bike from CWI. Same ones we had trouble with the original halogen bulb.......the sealed beams are working great. No issues what so ever and look nice too.

Too bad that stuff broke. At least you were able to disconnect bad wiring to get back on the road. Good thinking.

I'll keep that in mind Flightdoc. I sold my set of lights I originally bought, so if I decide to do that again, I'll have to repurchase.
