I'm looking at fairings for my 2006 Nomad 1600. Are there ones that I should stay away from due to quality? Does anyone know of a unit that they have been able to install the speedometer and tachometer into?

I do not know about the tach or speedo. But I had a Reckless Fairing on my 1500. Loved it. I got a blank one and installed my own stereo. They have speaker cut outs for different sizes. Any color you want as long as it is Black.

The Aerodynamics was Fantastic. Rain no issues Wind None. Made a 12" windshield for it and it was no wind. Or rain.

If you stay with the brand names, you won't have quality issues. down from the top, if you want a good fairing that comes with brackets, is good quality, not top of the line, mind you, but good quality, go to the https://theusatrailerstore.com/ and get one of the stealth batwing fairings.
If you wanna batwing with no inner skin, Memphis shades has you covered. Brackets are extra though....
Stay away from the cheapo mfg'ers on Amazon and Ebay that are from China. The better quality China Mfg'ers are pretty decent....

On mine (Stealth Batwing), I have a 1/8" mini plug when I can plug in my phone or my mp3 player, goes thru a small amp, splits off into the (4) 5" 3way speakers, then I have my Temp., oil pressure, volts and tach right in the middle of my fairing....
With my Stealth Batwing, came gloss black, with brackets, specify speaker hole types/radio size, and they include 1 tinted windshield, and 1 clear..... Less than $300 to your door....

Some folks use a HD batwing, plenty of holes for stereos, gauges....glove boxes, etc....can be had on Craigslist and Ebay from $250-$100 most days in great shape. Will of course have to make or adapt your own brackets....

Off into the shop to wrench for a few hours....

I went with a cheap fiberglass fairing from ebay.

Normal paint prep and you can't tell it isn't a $1500 piece.

I made my own setup years ago using a cheap HD fairing. Made my own brackets, etc. Not super finished but worked for me. There's the writeup I did on my old 2006 Nomad mods web site.
