Hello all, (I have searched to no avail) can a 12 " shock safely be installed on a vaquero ? I can't find what the standard length shock is..

What is the purpose of fitting the 12 inch shocks ? Do you want to lower the bike ?
There are lowering links for that purpose.

If you just need new shocks there are some new OEM shocks here.

Stock length should be 14" (measure it)

I am running Progressive 1" drop shocks and much better for me.

Dropping 2" is quite a bit IMO. Especially if riding two up or loaded. I had a previous bike dropped 2" and cause scraping problems cornering, bumps and dips as there wasn't much travel left in suspension.

Progressive 430 shock is 13"

I have a pair of Progressive 430 shocks that will work for you. Part number 430-4258B, 13 inch, black, 1600 miles on them. They came off of my 2011 Vaquero when I sold it. If you want to stay with the stock air shocks I have a used right side Vaquero shock (blew the LEFT side seal!) If you're interested in either let me know or make me an offer.

+1... I bought some of those new parts from Rick when he triked his new Voyager, and found him a straight-up guy. Packaging was excellent, as was the communication. He doesn't do Paypal, so we sorted out payment through Western Union without issue (there's an agent just down the road from him).

It rather surprises me that most of those parts are still unsold, and I only hope he doesn't junk them.

Will the shocks work on 06 Nomad? I believe they would have, but I see they're now sold.

Not to hijack this thread but the 'blew a seal' comment reminded me of this; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUabDrfjATY ......Mike

Hey Mike.
Good as can be expected, not fit for a bike to be on the road yet, I figure at least another 2-3 months.
And yours???............Mike

I ended up purchasing the shock from Rick , and you nailed it. It has been my pleasure to deal with such a nice fella especially in todays world, it seems most are out for me, me, me. He is a true gentleman, and I wish we lived closer so I could ride down to visit him.
