View Full Version : feels like I get a shot of boost at 4000rpm
This forum has been so helpful and want to thank everyone who has given such great advice. I have now started to notice an occurrence when I am accelerating hard in 2nd and 3rd gear at about 4000rpm the bike feels like it got a boost or something and just a jump of power before I have to up shift. I don't have IVAN's but do have Chucksters BAK, Cobra Tri Ovals and a PCV(dyno tuned) with ignition. I like how the bike runs so don't need advice to get Ivan's just if anyone else has ever had this what seems like a jump of power and I did get this before the PCV was installed and after. Thanks to all that respond

Sounds perfectly normal. Have you only just started revving the bike above 3,000 rpms ?

Yes, Ivan told me that a BAK would not show any power increase until 4000 RPM. That is what you are most likely feeling.

I think it is common to not rev big v-twins, most riders like to just chug along. I primarily ride BMW flat twins which love to run and rev, and I regularly shift at 4500 rpm on those, especially since they shift/respond better at higher rpms. Doing the same on my Vulcan 1600 with VH BigShots, Baron intake and Power Commander gets this big twin moving!

Pulling really strong at 4000, eh? Shes just coming on the power band....
Hell, wait till you hit 5000....and it gets better, at 5500....your looking around wondering who strapped on Buck Rodgers Rocket....
The big Vulcans love to rev, and have a rev limiter built in so you won't blow it....I normally long shift my Nomad out about every month or so, just one time....
Staring in first, rev her hard and fast, shift into 2nd at about 40/45, shift into 3rd at 60/65, 4th at about 75/80, rev her till I bump up against the rev limiter....keeps her limbered up, carbon outta the engine.....
The Vulcans love that....
I really enjoy doing that when theres a old Shovelhead/Evo right next to me....
