I see some riders are installing a larger front wheel on a vaquero, my question is how does (or would) this effect the handeling, the ride, the wheel and triple tree bearings ? I certainly like the look but, if there are too many drawbacks then why ?

WHY ?? I think it is... because they can. As I understand it the 21 is not that much different in handling, So I have read. Never experienced it.
If you are thinking of going that way, FB "Custom Vaquero Nation" would be your best source for more detailed information. Lots of members there have 21s and larger. Details on the ABS ring and rotors ect.

In my opinion, the Roaring Toyz setup is a A1+ in all this....having a raked tree, a 21" wheel setup, the whole complete kit!
The 21s in my opinion make the bike handle better, ride better....The look though....thats worth it alone...
A 21 is marginal with the stock fender, there is practically no room. Go with a bigger fender! If lowering with the springs, check out your fronts clearance with all the bodywork and the frame.
To me, the 23s (with raked trees!) are as big as I'd wanna go on a stock Vaquero....
I know there are starting to get a good many of the wrecked streetglides out there with a surviving 21+" custom front wheel, that are just asking to be transplanted onto the Nomads! They are practically a bolt on except for some shimming issues....Saw 2 nice used custom rims, one was a 21 and one was a 23, a 1K rim tire and rotors for $275....
