2019 voyager color & abs

Two things: Anyone see the 2019 blue & grey Voyager in person? I did last week, well it was still in the crate but we pealed the cardboard back and I thought it looked very sharp.
How do you guys like the ABS and linked brakes? Thinking of trading, my 2012 has 56k on it (I know it will run a lot longer) it doesn't have ABS or
the linked brakes. Any thoughts?

My 2015 has the K-ACT braking on it. Love it! Simply said I think all bikes would benefit from it.

I have the 2016 and I do love the K-Act brakes. it does take a bit to get used to, at least for me it did. The braking with it is you "don't need to think" Sort of. They will work in tandem only, They give you what "mikenad07" says a SQUAT in braking No real heavy nose dive to speak of. That being said, you lose the trail braking, burnouts, ability to turn the rear with power and front brake applied. Shit I used to do on occasion.
The only way to control them is Minimal. rear applied only will give you 1 front rotor and rear braking. Front only applied will give you both front rotors and the rear. it is somewhere around a 60% front to 40% rear braking ratio. Very adequate regardless of the true ratio. For me I changed all 3 pads at the same time since they are always working together. And I used the stock OEM pads to eliminate any fitment issues that I have read about. .02$

Thanks for the replies. I hardly ever use the rear brake, I am fairly aggressive on the curves but usually down shift once, easy in and accelerate hard going out.

I am a fan of the ABS. As MBarr and others stated, the squat takes a bit to adjust too. If you are faster on the rear than the front, when you grab the front, you are going know it! :wtf:

My first ABS was on my '08 Ultra Classic and I loved it. The K-ACT brakes on the Voyager are even better because of the linking. I would not go without ABS if I had the choice. ABS has stopped me from locking up the rear brake in a few panic stops.

I moved up to the 2017 specifically for the ABS and K-ACT. LOVE THEM. Adjustment time was pretty short.:tup:

I've had both - 2009 Non ABS and 2013 and 2014 with ABS - Will never go back.

Something I notice is that the pedal for the rear will have a slight movement to it at times when coming to a stop due to the linked brakes when they unlink at about 7mph. As for how they work in a panic stop and on slick condition, I dont ever want to be without them again, very smooth and seamless operation. I have a 2012 Voyager with them.

My dealer has one, but not put together yet and in the show room. Might have to trade this spring.

The brake linking only kicks in at speeds above 10 mph (I think). At really low speeds the brakes are not linked, allowing you to use just the rear brake. My old BMW had totally linked brakes which meant at low speeds if you even looked at the front brake lever the bike was going down. I like Kawasaki's system much better. Echoing what many others have said I would not own a bike, especially one as heavy as the Voyager, without ABS. I have only felt the ABS kick in one time (almost-panic stop on loose pavement), most of the time I don't think about it at all.

I have a 2012 with ABS. BTW, You only get linked brakes with ABS.

I love it. I specifically got a 2012 with ABS because I knew I would be towing a Time Out camper trailer with the bike.

I don't know of the k-act, but it has to be an improvement. The bike I have now has partial integral ABS, front brake is all brakes, rear is just rear. I've had to use it in earnest and it saved my ass a couple times. If I had been on my old Nomad, bad things would have happened. I wouldn't buy a bike without it. Some newer bikes have dynamic ABS which takes leaning and other conditions into consideration when braking.

I agree that the 2019 colors look really nice. Having never had the desire to do burnouts or other things that require only front or rear braking I think the K-ACT is great. I would certainly never own a bike this heavy that did not have some manner of ABS.
