If you're talking about the one on the left side, that IS the air cleaner. You can remove it as long as you do something aftermarket on the right, otherwise you lose the filter.

After you Get a BAC intake and the correct Ivan Programming (ECU FLASH) you can do anything with the Air cleaner side. I have seen a few Guys Ad a SUB Woofer to that side of the bike. FB = "Custom Vaquero Nation" pages has some Pics. Seems a bit warm there for me but they have done it.

For the year or two I had a BAK, I left mine with the OEM cover on it, but stored a roll bag of tools in there. I even had a roll of tape and a spare headlight bulb tucked away in a corner... The tools came in handy more than once, usually for the riders of other bikes in the group.

You could certainly find room in the cross-over tube for the compressor part of a Stebel horn... and carefully positioned, the trumpet part could be directed out under the tank where the air filter snorkel used to be?

So I'm the only one thinking maybe some type of drum magazine paint ball gun?

For when the driver on your left side drifts over into your lane.

On the left side, after doing a BAK so all air was on the right side. Had a bracket made that held a COW BELL which covered a SEBEL (?) horn.
The "Harley" look on the left side while adding more horn DBs...

Storage/hidey hole for anything you like.
On my last Nomad, I lined and sealed the left cover. Kept spare key and money when on trips.

I even had a roll of tape

Wrinkled Duct tape? Sorry PEG, it was just to obvious.

I like the versatility ideas, Tools and such is good. The thought has crossed my mind to reflash and get a BAC. So little power, for so much money though.

The reflash is very worthwhile, even taking into account all the extra $$ it cost to ship from down here and the wasted cost of the fuel tuner that went before it.

But I didn't like the BAK at all... I couldn't get used to the percussive sound it made, and after the reflash, I couldn't really tell much of any difference in the power between the BAK and a K&N filter in the OEM airbox anyway.

And yes... I've never been able to use duct tape without it becoming a display of poor workmanship. The other issue that roll of tape had, was it got very hot in there - lost most of it's stickiness.

I was wondering about the real world performance gains of adding a BAK if the Ivan ECU flash is going to be applied. Seems like it would be negligible unless you spend any real time at or above 4K RPMs. I'm wondering how many have added a BAK after having their ECU flashed by Ivan and could chime in on this.

I bought my 03 Classic this past July. It had all the usual mods already installed, including what looked like another air cleaner on the left side of the engine. Found out its a mount and cover for a Stebel horn kit. It contains the horn and relay. But I've not yet found any details on the kit and parts.

Get Ivans flash and then go for a short ride with the intake cover removed.
That will give you an idea on the performance gains and an insight into how much extra intake noise you will experience.

According to Ivans dyno charts if you have an aftermarket exhaust and Ivans flash an aftermarket intake is worth 7hp.
