Do I carry to much stuff??

So it is kind of a tight fit in the high side bag. but these are the things I carry every day. Am I missing items or maybe to much? What are your thoughts.

Jumper cable, gloves and liners. air pump for the shocks, Hair brush, tooth brush/paste and floss, Tie downs and spider mesh tie down, Clear glasses , sun glasses and reader glasses. Safety vest, chaps, Roll of Ratchet strap to lift the bike if it falls over. Micro fiber Towels and ram mount drink cup. Drink Cuzzy, LED Light Switch and spare pack of smokes!

On the other side in the mesh bag attached to the bag door, usb charger for the power socket, phone cord, trailer adapters, owners manual


Thoughts??

Wow. Unless I am traveling, all I carry is a tire repair kit with a 12 volt air compressor, and a micro fiber towel.

I am an Every day commuter, and when its time to go some where I like to be prepared. Grocery store, strap down the over load, ect. Stay late some where, Chaps and gloves for the trip home. I just never know. It has to be pouring rain not to ride, and sometimes I use the rain gear just to drive to work. Extra 10 minutes to get it on, then dry out at work. But its more fun than taking the truck, for the ride home.

Sooo.......have you ever run your skoot across the the truck scales when fully loaded?

I have. A full tank of fuel, my wife and all of our travel stuff......1400 pounds, more than once. I don't think I carry all that though.:tup::tup:

I carry a spare set of gloves, heavier ones if I leave with the light ones, and a spray can of Plexus and a microfiber towel to clean the windshield if I get a bug in the line of sight. That's it.

MBarr, I'm with you. The right side bag has my dop kit (Toothbrush, paste, etc.), bungie net, frogtogg's, spare glasses, gloves, windbreaker, charging cable, flashing emergency light, etc. Even the spare smokes and lighter. The left bag is reserved for the laptop on commute days or tools on road trips.

Most of the weight I carry in the saddlebags is tools.
I carry them in case I have problems on the road, then hope someone stops to help that knows how to use them :D

Thats it for every day riding.
If on a trip, then obviously pack more items.

I am seeing a pattern in your comments ( Thank You all for the thoughts) and that pattern is a sum of my experiences riding alone and with others. I carry what I carry due to past experiences. I can justify ( to Myself) why I carry what I do. I have needed them at one time or another, for myself or others.

I guess if I had ever had a flat I would also carry a tire kit, too. But since I haven't, there is not one in my bags. Yet I feel there should be.

It does appear that I carry to much, so I tried to lighten the load. As I thought about it, I realized I may need this and that too. I did before.


Or ….I'm just a pack rat ( some truth there) and the Boy Scouts could have made a larger impact than I thought. Dad is ex Military, Mom always packed for camping trips well. Sum of My experiences I guess.

And I'm at a point in my life where I'm just tired of working so much,
so having the little things to help you through a problem now and then helps with keeping it fun.

I pack enough tools to take care of most any problem.....I leave my 72" rollaround at the shop when I travel....(folks say I pack way too damn much).
I'd say carry a nice little metric tool kit, cause a Vulcan is complex enough, if something major happens, your gonna have to have it trailered home....or to the Kawa shop (OUCH!)....

What you carry is really a personal choice based on what you feel is necessary, so I am only going to suggest balance the weight evenly between the bags rather than putting all your just in case stuff in one bag.
