My vaquero has a 21” front wheel ( bought it used, ) .How will this affect checking the oil level ? Should I jack up the bike to get a “level reading ?

If you aren't sure, fill it 3/4 full on the ground then jack it up and see how much difference it makes. After that, you won't have to jack it up again, just make a mental adjustment what you get.

It probably won't make much difference. 5" larger front wheel makes a 2.5" rise from axle to axle or about 66". That's only about a 2° angle, I'd estimate.

It really doesn't affect it....now, if you have a 30" upfront, non-raked, now that would throw your level off some.....

A lot of people swear by Oil and filter change 5 qts. Done and done.
I pour 4.7-4.8 Qts. consistently. SO what's the real difference. Not sure, not qualified to even form a hypothesis. Just some facts for your comfort.

And remember drain both cavities, 2 drain plugs. Rotate your crush washers if you do not use new ones. that much I do Know.
High flow RC 303 oil filters have a nut on the end to get them off easier. And the RC is a better filter than the standard HF 303

You can always drive the bike up on a board under the rear wheel to help level out the bike.
