474 miles. W Greenwich RI to Gran Gorge NY and back.

I left about 8 AM going out route 14 in RI to Route 6, 66 through Hatford Ct to 91 north past the Hartford airport on route 20. Drove through side routes in NW Ct., up to MA where RTE 23 to me all the way to Gran Gorge NY. Returned on RTE 23 through MA until looking to bypass Sprinfield MA taking the MA turnpike for a couple of exits, then back to side roads in MA and south to CT and then RI. Returned at the house after staying in Gran Gorge for about 2 1/2 hrs. at about 7 PM.

All the roads were pretty much back roads, avoiding highways except when trying to get through the larger cities of Hartford CT and Sprinfield MA.

There are some beautiful roads in all of the states involved though I didn't really keep track of the exact routes I traveled. I used maps for the trip, but only for avoiding highways as much as possible. If my path was near larger towns I went the other way.

I did however have to back track at one point to get gas because I realized the next 50 or 60 miles didn't have gas. (I asked a woman walking a stroller where the nearest gas station was on the route I was traveling was, and dhe clued me in that I had too many miles before my next gas stop).

Boy am I gald I stopped and asked.

Sounds like some nice riding. I think my biggest mileage day was 325 miles when I rode up Mt Washington auto road to the top. Your ride is an iron butt run in my mind. What people don't take into account when you put down a mileage figure is that you weren't cruising 75-80 mph and that you spent a good part of the day in the saddle. You should copy your posting or at least post a link to it in the New England forum.

For 2008, my longest day ride to date is when I came back to Texas from the Kawanow Eastern Rally in Elkins West Virginia.

I left the Super 8 at 10 AM EDT and rolled into Round Rock Texas at 6;30 AM CDT. Covered 1376 miles in 21.5 hours which included a hour breakfast break at Denny's in Texarkana.

My next long day trip will be next Thursday when I head out to Pocatello Idaho to visit my grand sons on the way to the VROC Oregon Rally in Coos Bay. I anticipate 24 to 26 hours straight to cover just under 1500 miles. Because of the West Texas heat I'll schedule my departure to be traveling there during the cool of the night.

250 miles was the longest for me this year so far. I did it 4 times: twice each way to & from the Mesquite rally. If I hadn't insisted my wife go to the rally with me, I'd have covered the 500 miles each way in a day. It's more fun for me to take her and go half as fast though.

My typical ride is 10 miles to work and 10 miles home. I clock about 5000 miles a year just going to work & back.

I enjoy 300 mile days. You can cover a lot more on the freeway but I like to ride the back roads better. Yesterday was beautiful. I rode up I-80 to Evanston, Wyoming and took the Mirror Lake Highway Back into Kamas. The weather was perfect up there around 10,000 feet. The smell of the pines filled the air. I rode with 3 other friends of mine. Its been a while since I had such a nice ride.

I rode 700 miles in a day for the first day out on the way to the Western Rally, didn't seem too long. I've had worse 400 mile days. I must have been in the mood.

On the last day of the rally, I don't remember how many miles I went, but we started out at about 7:00am and I rode straight till 11:00pm.

For me, heading out on a trip is a lot more exciting than comming back home, and the days don't seem as long.

On my recent road trip to west coast I had three days over 450 miles and I must admit they were the least pleasant of the whole 23 day trip. 300 miles or less per day is perfect for me. Did I mention I hate freeways? Buck

My longest day ride was on the return trip from my Western Rally > Salt Lake City trip. Blanding, Utah to Chandler, AZ about 470 miles. It wasn't a bad ride, but the last 100 miles were in 110 degree temps I was pouring water on my shirt to try to keep cool at 80-85 MPH. I couldn't get home fast enough. I had killed about an hour around Monument Valley, just dinking around taking pictures and stuff. I still made it home before the afternoon rush hour got bad.

Welcome to my world. You should have let me know you were in the area. I'd have ridden with you for a spell.

What year Nomad did you buy? Did you buy at a dealer or from a private seller?

Picked up an 08 w/CA emissions with 450 miles with a "restored salvage" title. Needs a few bolt on items to get her back looking new. Got a helluva deal. Worth the flight and the ride. Spent today getting it registered here in Ca. All is good! I plan to blog here about the entire experience. Been a busy past 3 days!
