Hello, I just returned from a 5200 Mile trip to Western Canada and through some northern states. Have a 07 Vulcan Nomad and the bike ran great. I have a Shoei open face helmut and wear Panoptix glasses. Can anybody recomend a pair of glasses that will not fill up with water when in heavy rain, or would a full face shield do the trick. Any info would be appreciated. Flexible

I have the same issues with my glasses, that is one reason I am going to go get a modular helmet. At least then I can wipe the shield and not feel the stinging rain on my face.

I have my windshield set so that I'm just looking over the top of it in a relaxed riding position. When it rains, if I slouch a little the rain doesn't hit my face, unless I'm going slow.

What was your experience with it?

We run the Bell Mag 8 helmets - it has a visor that flips up under the peak. When it just rains lightly you can just flip it down slightly and still see nicely - if it pours then you can position it so you can still see without fogging up too badly. Unfortunately sometimes you just cannot not fog up and the rain is too heavy for anything to work well!!

I wear a fullface Gmax helmet and run with my windshield so I'm looking just over the top. I got caught in a downpour on the way back from Americade and had my faceshield up about halfway. This kept a lot of the rain off my glasses and no fogging.

I wear a HJC CL-Max modular helmet and I really enjoy it. It's nice having the option of either a half or full face helmet. I can ride with the front up down the highway and not feel any buffetting at all, or if it's cooler or raining, I just pull the front down for great protection. I've been rained on a couple of times, but the water just runs off the sides. I'd highly recommend this helmet to anyone. I bought it from Dennis Kirk for $160.

In hard rain I wear a cop helmet with a visor. I also wear my night riding glasses. I can tip the lid down some and look over the glasses with my naked eyes, so I see pretty well. I find the faster i go with desert dawgs on I can stay pretty dry, untill I need to slow. I have been out on I-93 doing 75 mph and stay dry, this in inches of water, but with no real hard curves.

So far I can't stop the leaks around my collar.

In New Hampster you don't ride if you don't ride in rain. One of my tricks is to remove as much clothing for staying warm as possible, before it gets wet. Then on goes the rain gear. After the rain stops I can put dry things back on, and or change out the wet.

Most of this rain is T Storms, so not all day soakers, but boy when it comes down it really comes down.

In groups I can see well enough to know others pulled by the wayside an go back to wait it out with them. Alone I never stop unless there is hail.

What is the rain that you speak of?
Sometimes during July we get dust storms and this strange wet stuff that falls real heavy but usually goes away quickly, is that rain?

Confused in AZ....

If I know Im going to be in the rain ,I'll wear a full face helmet, and usually crack the visor open a bit. Other than that I just tuck in behind the windsheild.

Naw, I'd remember that. I'd have been on my hands and knees, lapping up the free BEER.

A buddy and I took a little trip yesterday... we rode thru three pretty good showers, and if we don't get slowed down, I don't even get my shirt wet.... it used to drown my boots and lower leg, until I learned to put my feet up on the crash bars....unless it just pours down and keeps on raining, I don't have any problem... we used to pull over and put on the rain suits as soon as it started, but, a long time ago we learned better.... nine times out of ten, if you just keep on going, you'll run out of the rain in no time... ronnie

Thats where I find the fibreglass lowers are really handy, Its pretty rare that my legs and feet get wet anymore.

Thats exactly what it is, you can see them in the picture at the bottom of this post, I really like them for the protection from the elements that they provide. Heres the link;

I just got back from vacation and spent a week in the rain,I had just gotten the Scropion exo100 helmet and the way the shield goes in to the helmet is the best thing I ever had for the rain, with this helmet you only need to carry the one. Had just received before vacation and is the only helmet I use now.

Got caught in the rain today for the first time on the nomad. That big windshield sure does keep me dry. Nice little 20 minute summer storm on I95. My hands took s a good stinging, but the only thing that reall got wet was my shins.

I wear a 3/4 with a full clear flip up shield. That and the windshield have sufficed, unless its a absolute terrential.

I keep a pair of clear goggles in my rain suit bag. I put some car wax on the lenses so the water runs off faster (rainx yellows the plexi).

What I seriously need to find is good plir of clear lense glasses that I can wear when I ride at dark. I generally just dont wear glasses if i'm out at night. The wind is starting to bug me though lately.
