Got a little problem with my gas cap.....and, I caused it... but, now it's done, so, how do I undo it............ I got the bright idea to put a little oil in the key lock hole on my cap, because , well, I figured it would do it some good...WRONG....now my cap is not venting, and I know this, because I can hear it wheezing sometimes as I go down the road... then, when I stop and open the cap, it releases pressure or suction and sounds like opening a can of coke.... I can take a piece of shrink tubing and fit it onto the vent hole inside the gas cap, and blow thru it, and then all is well until next time it dose it, which might be 200 miles down the road, or 10... no set time....I tried high presure air, but, still it comes back...... now I'm thinking brake cleaner, or something.... any ideas.... ronnie

Ronnie, They all make that noise when it gets warmer out, it isn't anything that you did, just a coincidence. There is a post somewhere that tells you how to cut a spring under there to get rid of the noise. On a hot day mine will make noise like crazy. Hope that helps!!

Oh well... thanks for the info..... I've had mine now for 2 years, and it just started making that noise.... maybe it was just time...anyway, you've eased my mind...

Yep - mine whistle....no set pattern...sometimes when I have stopped and standing around talking....it's starts whistling....usually the warmer it is out/the more whistling. And as you said sometimes when I unlock the gas cap it does sound like popping a soda can.

I noticed when the bikes were good and hot at the rally, and all parked together, you'd hear a chorus of wheezing filler caps.

We should have changed the level of fuel in each tank to create a nice chord! http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif
