Do you guys ever carry metric tool kits, flat tire plugs etc... we're planning some longer trips and was interested in what "OH CRAP" items you carry.

I carry a small set of metric sockets, allen wrenches, dyna plug tire plugs, a small 12 volt air compressor and a small battery power pack like this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D42AFS8/ref=s9_acsd_zgift_hd_bw_bLXhjn_c_x_w?pf_rd_m=ATVPD KIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-8&pf_rd_r=6DMZ3P952PN4WGXSMA9R&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=a6b3dd3a-5e3d-5661-9134-0d3384e34ec6&pf_rd_i=318336011 and a leather man multi tool

Carry assortment of metric sockets, stub ratchet, 6in1 screwdriver, electrical tape, mechanics wire, leather man, tye wraps, flashlight, compressor and tire plugs, AAA card, fuses Weather this is a trip across country or next state over
Carry tools at bottom of saddle bag, lowest possible point on bike.
Do all your ride preparations week before your trip and DON'T add new farkles /changes just before you leave. Also you won't need as much stuff as you think, there is always a Walmart.
Enjoy the adventure

I put all my tools in a old style heavyduty cloth rollup pouch. All the General tools that will fit. Then, I have a old large multimeter pouch, I keep a complete set of fuses, several led lightbulbs replacements, a electrical tester,, a medicine bottle full of grease, one of vasoline, one of carwax. Right saddlebag
I strap the toolpouch to the other pouch with a elastic/velcro strap, 2 emerengcy break/shake light sticks, led flashlite. Fits fairly flat in the bottom of saddlebag.
Other saddlebag has a empty cassettecarrying case in it (cassette cases removed)that holds a slime tire pump/compressor kit, slime bottle, plugs, balance kits, assort of wires, connectors, emergency batt.start/jumper, Bottle of motorcycle cleaner, extra sparkplugs, 2 emergency break/shake light sticks.
In my roll pack-Behind my seat duffle- led flashlite, 1 quart motoroil, 1 qt. bottle of antifreeze, 1 qt. bottle of water, several bottles octane booster, 1 can seafoam, 4 bungies, 4 rubber twisties-large, 2 flavoered water for me and 2 bags of spicy peanuts (2/$1), 1 bag/bottle of mechanics wipes, hand cleaner, 5 shop rags....2 emergency break/shake light sticks, 2 foldup reflectors, and 2 road flares. My peanuts and water go in the very top of bag....
Even with the stuff in the bottom of my saddlebags, my saddle liners still fit in, just slightly scrunched on the bottoms....Rest of my cloths go in my saddleman tail bag....which span my bags and my fender....

Tow card, credit card/cash, bike tool kit, cell phone, VBA emergency contact list/VROC VERS list.
I do have a couple of clutch cut out switches which I have removed from old master cylinders, those are hard to come by on the road, and a front brake light switch or two.
I have started carrying a Slime compressor in each bike, since finding them on sale for next to nothing a couple of years ago and buying the last 4 at the store I was at.

I don't carry a METRIC tool kit, but I do have a kit with some sockets, a few wrenches, pliers and hex and torx wrenches. I have only needed to use them once, when one of my hiway pegs loosened up in Lodi, CA. I also have a small tire inflator and a tire plugging kit. I also carry a shock pump and a tire gauge.
Most importantly, I have roadside assistance, credit cards and a cell phone. I also usually carry a 9mm pistol, because you never know who you might run across on some back road somewhere.

I had a mirror come loose once. Pulled into an auto parts store and borrowed a box wrench. I carry a gerber tool, but didn't want to mar up the chrome if I didn't have to.

Tools, tape, fuses. Patch kit, Slime, air pump, Anker jump box, few feet of red and black wire, small multi meter and test light. All of that stuff is in there all the time. On longer trips I take my wife.

A roll of toilet paper for when you eat at that greasy spoon truck stop and the food starts a drano type chemical reaction in your gut. Also include a bottle of octane booster and heet/or similar product for some of those questionable fuels you may experience.

.40 cal? :D
Basic socket set, allen wrenches, electrical tape, pliers, needle nose, fuses, quart of oil, yadda.
As stated, give the scoot a good once over to make sure all is tight before the trip. No major changes before hand. Belt and tires are a phone call anyway. Anything else that is likely to happen is stuff coming loose. All rolled up in towel and packed low in the side bag.
On previous bikes always carried an extra clutch cable. Long story of how that lesson got learned.

Spare Key!!!

You can trim down your toolkit some by only carrying the sockets and wrenches that you use the most. Metric 10, 13, and 14 seem to me to be the most often needed, especially 10 with 14 being second. A crescent wrench can usually fill in for other sizes. Be sure to carry at least one short and one long extension, too.
A T-handle screwdriver kit with a number of different tips, including hex and security, doesn't take up much room, but can be really handy.

I carry what I think I would need to reattach something that comes loose. This includes zip ties and a small roll of gaff tape as those two things can make a multitude of repairs. I also carry a tire plug kit and a small compressor. All of this fits in the bottom of the bag with my rain gear. I carry my phone but since I am often more than an hour between places with any sort of reception I need to be able to get myself to the next town. Once I reach some sort of habitation I can then fall back on the phone and Visa.

I also carry a spare key on a chain around my neck. If you should loose your key it will sure ruin a trip.

Spare key everyday. Change out the bolt on the right side cover for a Phillip's head screw on the right side cover Its an m6 X 45mm sorry I did not get the thread # . Then when it happens you don't have to say " Do you have a 4mm driver" Just ask for a Phillips.

Glock.. :yep:
everything you said.. !
I have driven home before without a clutch.. not the greatest experience.. lol
Slime <--must and if you can get it in the kit with the mini air compressor..
ALWAYS take an extra towel..
I also have a motorcycle tow plan with Geico just in case..
I have the maintenance and tow package from Kawasaki too..
Take photos of ALL your documentation with your cellphone and upload it to the onedrive google thing. just in case anything happens to the wallet, or anything, you have all of you and your bike documented
Have your emergency contacts in your phone and in one of the bikes compartments..
If you are allergic to anything, have that on your wrist and well documented it can save your life..
I am allergic to Opioids which the heavy duty pain killers are made of..
Plan for the crash.. plan for the worse.. 99% of the time it goes perfect.. but I always plan for the 1% of the time..
cheers..

Everything I see on this post seems right, especially the fuses. Wife is also a must, so you have someone to blame for the stuff you forgot!:yep::yep:
I have made several trips cross country, and to be honest, I keep leaving more and more stuff at home, just don't need it! A flashlight, a cell phone, credit card, and some cash (I actually did find a place that did not take plastic, but I had enough cash to get me to the next big town that did take plastic) and oh yeah, that 1 gallon extra gas can I carry on my rear tray. Don't leave town without it!

Great thread! I really just bring clothes, wallet, phone, music. I have friends with me that carry everything but the kitchen sink so I am good to go. Now snowmobiling or atving is a very different story when travelling in the wilderness. I would like to have a gun during those times too, but you get thrown in jail if you get caught with that up here. I think I will throw a few essentials in the saddlebags now that I read this. Thanks
