View Full Version : Signature pictures--just my opinion

This is just my opinion, so don't jump on me too hard, but some of the signature pictures are getting too large and taking up too much room. It makes it really hard to get to the data in the post wading through such large pictures. There are guide lines for sizes set by Trip for picture sizes. I know there is a way to shut off the picture loads, but I still like to see what everyone is into. They don't have to be huge, just there. Sorry if I offended anyone, that's not my intention, I would just like to get through the posts easier and I'm sure there are others who feel the same way.

I agree, its hard to scroll back and forth, when trying to read the posts. At first I thought there was something wacky with my monitor settings.

YEah what makes it difficult if the there are too many pics or they are too wide. then you have to scroll left and right to read peoples post. Personally I dont care about how tall they are( within reason). It's just a pain to move left and right. Some of the pics just need to be cropped in and they would be fine. That can be done at the photobucket site without ever having to mess with the setting on your profile or anything.

I brought this up a while back. It got better for a while, well there was a few exceptions ;)
It seems that some peoples screens handle it better than others. I have to scroll on pages that other people don't.
I think if everyone followed the guide lines for posting pics the problem would go away.
Some times the pics are the right size but the person has 3 or 4 side by side which makes scrolling necessary.
Right now ice793 has two side by side and I have to scroll every thread he posts on.

I think part of it is those of us who have been sharing a few of our "showcase" rally pics. I'm sure it will settle down again after the Central Rally. Just my .02 worth.

I know this is a sensitive subject, as I have been PM'd previously to address my sig pics, which were blowing out the frames. I learned that by hitting the "enter" key while modifying my profile, I can move the pics around. While I don't think members should be limited to one sig pic has been advocated, I do advocate that the total width of all pics not blow out the frames and vertically fit on the screen, IMHO. If anyone thinks my pics are excessive, pls let me know.

Dan, your good.
ice, thanks, thats much better.
kawgirl, the main thing I am concernrd with is the signiture pictures. Posting rally photos as you say will pass with time. But the sig pictures are a recuring problem.

Even with one line of pics you can still blow out the frame if the pics are to wide.

True but would help those that stack one on top another

One line of pics in your sig line seems like a good idea to me.

Everyone, just make sure your pics are no wider than 350 in resolution. The height will take care of itself in most cases.

One way to check it is by executing the program Paint, that comes with Windows (Start, Programs, Accessories). You can size the pic and then re-upload it to where you have it.

Or, if you have a graphics editing program, you can use that.

One line of sig pics would be fine with me, if it stops the need to scroll.

sometimes its the pics and sometimes its the words, I have to scroll left-right just to read a post, Its sucks.

Top Cat

suennico, yes you can block the pics but why should we go without pics just because some people won't follow the rules ;)

Doc, the reason it is the words in some posts is because if one post in the whole thread is to wide it makes every other post in that thread to wide.

No offense Cad, but you have three and you are complaining. What are you talking about? Why don't you remove all of them and set an example. Like mine.

caddman11
06-27-2008, 08:49 PM
My three are combined into one pic and the picuture doen't force you to scroll right to see the post, that's the issue here, It's the total length of the pictures, if the total is much over 600 pixels, you end up having to scroll over. Ya get it now tomk?

If I want to read a long thread without the distractions, I click on the print icon.

If you host your pictures on Photobucket it also lets you resize under edits.

Hey ice, your avatar pic isn't showing on my screen. You may have to resize it to 100 x 75 on photobucket. I had the same problem.
Mine was showing up on my screen but no one else's. Just a heads up.
Lets see if it shows on other peoples screen first. How about it guys, do you see ice's avatar ???

There's a difference between the avatar pic and the footer pic. The avatar needs to be no larger than 100x100. And, you can size it in your profile by specifying the size. It'll take whatever size the pic is and resize it to what you have set.

Now, the pics in your posts and in your footers are different. They need to be sized at the source. Read the forum FAQ......it'll explain all.

But like Todd said, Lets ride

You may know what your Nomad looks like but you don't know what everyone Else's looks like. At the central rally last weekend there were 18 Nomads and none of them looked just alike. Now that was cool.
