We made it to Blanding Utah. Stopped for a little while in Moab and walked around town. It was hot, but not scorching hot like Mesquite. We are on a high plateau, I'd guess close to 5000', so it should be cool in the morning when we start the last segment of the trip...

THE RIDE TO <s>HELL</s>, ER...PHOENIX.

Actually, I think I have it figured out pretty good. Once we get to Flagstaff, we are purposely going to avoid I-17 and the descent into HELL, and taking a mountain route that should be 10-15 degrees cooler than Phoenix. Only the last 50-60 miles should be unbearably hot. We'll see.

Take care pal.

Try to stay cool, Scott.

And watch out for tarantulas. I nearly bought it when my rear wheel hit a tarantula on a mountain curve. Tarantulas are evidently made of 90% snot.

We kind of dinked around today, we were in no hurry. We only had to cover about 280 miles. Tomorrow will be close to 400, so we'll be on the ball. Lots of road construction delays. Had to park the bike for about 15 minutes between Moab and Monticello while they let northbound traffic pass.

The worst part of my ride home today was from Payson to home, about 90 miles. It was 108 degrees in Phoenix, but I don't think it was as hot and miserable as the ride from Hoover Dam to Mesquite last week.

It's good to be home, though.

I think I would ride at night , if I lived in that heat.
