Would like to add a trunk to my 2010 Nomad

Has anyone added a trunk to their 2010 or newer Nomad? If so I'm looking for ideas. With the way the passenger backrest is designed it doesn't look like it would be easy. :hmm:

They make a trunk kit for you nomad, it's the same trunk that's on the voyager. I think it cost around $1500 but it look stock. You can google nomad 1700 trunk kit

OK Thnx. How does it work out for you passenger without the handrails? My local Kaw shop can get it and they gave me a price cheaper then any sites I looked at on the Net. Now its a matter of convincing the wife. She doesn't want to give up the passenger handrails. I'm gonna start looking to see if there are 3rd party handrails out there for voyagers. :D

My passenger has never asked for or needed hand rails on any bike we've had, and the Voyager trunk's backrest wraps around anyway... But if I ever wanted some hand rails, I'd likely purchase a pair from Marvellas (http://marvellas.com/cart/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=66) (Currently out of stock).

We have their adjustable passenger footrests on the bike (highway pegs for the passenger), and they're very well made indeed.

I was looking at Marvellas. By the looks of their backlog, if we go with the trunk we will have time to try it without the handrails. several folks we know have Voyagers and have mentioned they would like the handrails. We will see. I like the idea of the adjustable foot pegs. do they fold up and out of the way when not used?

They fold up out of the way, but it's still a bit cluttered down there when I need to put my feet down. They don't improve the looks of the bike any, either. But my passenger has long legs, and needed some way to stretch out on highway pegs now & then so she doesn't get cramped up (& want to stop all the time :D)

Using the wampus I was able to keep the stock backrest/handrails

I added steel extension bars and mounted with rubber o-rings between the nuts and bolts to spread out the stress.

Have since painted it to match (touchupdirect Aerosol Tricoat 2-part Kaw 052 and clearcoat).

I just added an after market saddleman to my bike and it took some doing but I wanted it to be removable and inexpensive. It opens like a clam shell so once on the rack it won't open so I mounted a couple of drawer slides under itan da latch to hold it from sliding out when I'm riding. To open it I flip the latch slide it out get what I need and slide it back into place and it latches till i need something again. Remove 4 bolts and it's off the bike. works great for my needs.

Well I'd like to thank everyone for their input. After checking out your suggestions and a few other options, the wife & I decided to go with the OEM Nomad Trunk Kit. Yes it was the more expensive option but it does look good and the local Kaw shop I deal with gave me a nice break on the price, since I bought my bike there and they've done some of the major servicing for me. We took it out last night for a test run and the wife like the extra back support. The only down side is that she thinks she'll be able to shop more when we're out :wtf:. The pics that some of you posted of you bikes was a help in my decision. :tup: Now I need to start searching for a good luggage rack for the top of it.Save

That' a hell of a deal, hayes (http://www.vulcanbagger.com/forums/member.php?u=4759). Good luck with it. It took the wife and I about 5 hrs to take the Nomad backrest and support hardware off and put the Trunk Kit on. I took my time and made sure everything fit and was tight. If he doesn't give you the directions to install it, I have a PDF of them, if you need it.
