I spent a lot of time today putting together my video clips, and getting them just right. Then I tried to put it up on youtube, but it was too big.

I chopped it into two parts, and way messed up the music by chopping it up and putting it back together again. Youtube makes the quality go way down, but I have the full size on my computer.

For those who weren't there, I was driving with my left hand on the throttle, and filming with my right hand, so it's a bit shaky, but you should still get the idea of what the ride was like.

As I've said many times, Zions is my favorite ride. I hope the video will give you an idea why.

Very nice Dan. I am uploading mine to youtube now...wow is that slow....my cam was mounted on the handle bars and I still dont have all the vibration out....gotta perfect my crudely engineered $4.00 mount. Should have my ride to the Top Of The World up sometime tonight.

Thanks for doing this, Dan! Would it be possible to get the full, uncut version somehow?

I've got about 30 minutes toal of video from our entire trip, shot with a handheld by my wife. I'm going to try to edit it down to something managable & maybe not put it on youtube, considering what their quality is like (ugh!) Perhaps with the limited number of hits it's going to get, I can arrange some better hosting. I dunno. We'll see what my video editing talents are like first. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Todd, it can't be over 10 min for youtube, that was my problem.

If you are over 10 min it will download it, then after forever damn ever it will tell you that it was too big.

That's why mine got chopped into two parts. Actually it got chopped into many parts and put back together into two parts.

Hey Dan,
Nicely done. I wasn't there :'( { wish I could've been} but I'm going there for my first time, this week. Leaving Thurs. from Sumas Washington. Your video gives me a great idea of what I'll be seeing. Thanks, very much appreciated.

Not to take anything away from your video,......

I'm mounting my camcorder on my bike, so I'll be making my video available for anyone that might be interested. I'm heading down through Idaho, Utah, Nevada, northern California, {ave. of giants} up the Oregon coast, and over to Mt St. Helen, and then back home to Canada.

It must be awesome to ride in a large group like that, ......all of you that went are so fortunate.
Thanks again Dan,

I had my camera on a lower resolution so that I could get more stuff. I ended up with nine pages of photos on photobucket, this video, and a bunch that wasn't good enough to keep, and still had room on the camera.

I wish I did it in a better resolution, but on my computer it looks a whole lot better than the way it looks once youtube gets done doing their thing to it.

I've got a viable wmv file created & I'm loading it up to Photobucket in medium rez right now. It's about 11 minutes & 42 MB, so I'll probably make a low-rez version for the bandwidth impaired.

Well, like Dan, I had to break up my video into segments. I still left out a lot, plus there are no titles because they just take up time. I had to re-compose things, so some shots aren't in the order they really happened. I'm starting to upload now (fingers crossed.)

Yup, it gets tricky. I made one good video that was in order, the music worked, etc.

When it didn't fit and I broke it up, I ended up with a not as good of a video with choppy music, and an extra piece in the tunnel segment http://s2.images.proboards.com/angry.gif:(" title=">:(" border="0"/>

I decided to be content to have a good one on my computer and not worry. If I had known that length was going to be a problem, I would have just built two smaller good ones to begin with :)

That's good to know for when I upload mine. How many meg's do you figure or length would be good to do, for putting onto photo bucket?...........CaddmanQ or Dan.

Wow did I ever get in trouble today!

My wife wanted to see my slide shows and this. After the first segment of the bikes coming around the corner (I was off the bike and on the hill) she only got a few seconds into the other part and could immediately tell that I was riding with one hand and filming with the other.

I immediately clicked out of it when she started voicing her displeasure; I wasn't going to let her see 12 minutes of riding with one hand through corners etc. :)

That led to a long discussion of me buying long term care insurance (not a discussion I initiated mind you) and who's going to take care of me when I hurt myself (not her).

See what happens when an adventurous risk taker marries a risk adverse woman?

Yikes!

Yer screwed now Dan! Convince her that it's safer if the passenger holds the camera. ;)

On Photobucket, keep it to around 4 minutes. At about 4 1/2 it just cuts it off without warning. My clips were done for 512 mb broadband mode, but Photobucket thunks it down a lot. It's still better looking than YouTube IMO.

Ricky, here's what Youtube says:

There are two ways to upload your video: by using our Single File Uploader or the YouTube Uploader (for multiple files). With either of these methods, your videos can be up to 1GB in size and 10 minutes long.

Please note, the longer and/or higher quality your video is, the more compression will be required to fit it into 1GB.

I cut mine in half to keep it under 10 min. And the video quality went way down once it went through whatever compression that they do.
