At last....."SUNSHINE" ;)
Well were all here, Todd started us off by getting us all lined up for a Group Picture & a ride around the Motel before we all left for
different rides and Shenanigans. Our Group "The Posse" consisted of Beezer,Vaccam (Mike),Gus,Joe Howard,Ringadingh,
Chawney Boy. After the pic we headed South on Rt 219s to Rt 15w a nice winding road with sweepers & a few switchbacks some good climbs & steep drops but nothing tough like Friday.
This was a beautiful ride at a nice pace that all were able to maintain we stopped for pictures at several locations. One location in particular was a cemetery up on the side of a mountain as we were descending around a sharp curve. I anticipated this as I had been here previously. We stopped for pictures, which someone will later post and I'm sure all will have a good laugh at Beezer's antics! The cemetery dates back to the early 1800's of one family. It is well -maintained and definitely gets your attention as you pass by descending the mountain into the town of Webster Springs. We continued on past some beautiful countryside with flower and fauna everywhere, old farms and barns, stone walls, cattle, sheep, and country everywhere you looked. We arrived in the town of Sutton, West Virginia, where we stopped for lunch. All had a wonderful meal , much story telling and jokes! We then left the restaurant , refueled, and proceeded north on Rt. 19. This was a rather straight, two-lane, country road with many picturesque settings. As we rode north, past Stonewall Jackson Lake, we stopped for some photos and a brief rest before proceeding north to Weston, West Virginia. We again refueled and took a brief break, before heading east on Rt. 33 - a beautiful four-lane highway in this area running through the mountains. At this point we were trying to arrive back in Elkins by 4:00 p.m. for the group barbecue and picnic. After arrival, we disbursed - some went to the picnic, some went back to the motel to shower & refresh. This was a great group, I thoroughly enjoyed the humor & camaraderie of the group. ;) Our total mileage for this day was about 180 mi. http://s2.images.proboards.com/tongue.gif
