Just like the title says I did a bunch of work to my bike the last couple of months, had to take it for a quick spin to see how it ran, woke up in the hospital! No memories of what happened but according to deputy I dumped it in the ditch on a tight curve, no witnesses, just got lucky a passerby found me. No helmet, no pants, just a t shirt, shorts, & crocs. Ended up with a concussion, 2 fractured vertebra in my neck, & some road rash, but considering I feel pretty darn blessed, especially when I think about the extra 5 minutes it would have taken to suit up before going. I know we are all adults & make our own choices, but it almost makes me sick to think of what I could have put my beautiful wife & kids thru because I was in a hurry!

Glad it wasn't more serious.
On the bright side, at least it was before you got $2000 in it.

Thanks guys. I titled it this way because I feel like such an idiot for falling for the whole I don't need my helmet for such a quick ride. I am feeling real blessed by the way it turned out.

I just got the Chucksters air kit on. It will be interesting to see how insurance takes care of it. Road rash is pretty well healed. I am doing really well.

Glad to hear you made it. I hope you have a speedy and complete recovery. I've been riding without a helmet lately due to neck pain caused by weight/wind resistance of riding with a helmet. Just bought a new carbon fiber helmet and hope that will help. So, thanks for the wake up story. Take care!

Just had a check up, another month in the neck brace, I basically split one vertebrae on one side, if it had been in 2 places that would have required surgery so no complaints here. Got an estimate back on the bike, only $21,000 to fix it, I don't think that will happen since it's not worth anywhere near that, LOL!

Greetings,
Glad you don't have to do any more recovery that what you already are. Adding surgery's.... You are lucky. blessed or both..
More to fix it than they cost... :???:
So, what'cha-gonna-do? Get another Vaq? Pretty all black one (15?) in DBQ...
Ride safe,

Not sure what I am going to do. On my last ride I took off without telling anyone, so my daughter commented that she was kind of peeved because she would have went with me, I guess that's what bothers me the most, what would have happened to her if she went along. Might have to build a bobber so I don't have to worry about that LOL!
