ride safe.
We made it home safe also, after stopping to see a friend in Staunton. Had another nice little ride with mark, dui, classic1, kawgirl and myself (108 miles as dui said) this morning from Elkins to Staunton. We just couldn't get enough.
Great job Amy and Nancy..I thought the evening in the park cookout was a great official end to a great event.

Glad to see those who posted that they made it home safely...
As for Coach, Mrs. Coach and myself.... http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif
Sitting in The Best Western off I-95 about 30 miles north of Savannah, GA. Started out about 6:30 am and everything was going great until we got on US 26 out of Columbia SC and the skies opened up. Lightning and heavy rain so we found an overhang at a gas station and waited about 45 minutes to an hour for the rain to let up. Back on the bikes, over to I-95 and south until we called it a day about 7:30. At that point we were tired, hungry, cold, and very wet. Got in almost 600 miles today and looking at a full day tomorrow.
Thanks to Amy & co. for putting on a great time and a reason for guys like Ron and I to ride the longest ride of our life. And to all the nice people we met, it was a blast.

I just rolled in. Left Elkins 10 AM EDT . Managed to dodge most of the rain. Never had to stop to put on the rain gear. Otherwise the ride was pretty routine. Did pass Unwind2 in Kentucky on my way back to Texas.
1366 miles in 22 hours. A long tiring ride but well worth it. Now to unpack and get a short nap.
Amy & Nancy and all those that volunteered to lead rides and helped with the cookout put on an outstanding event.
It was good to be able to put faces to names.
So when do we do this again? ;) ;)

Made it home safe at 1PM then yard work the rest of the day. Absolutely fantastic weekend, even with the "liquid sunshine"on Fri. Amy, Nancy and crew did a terrific job!!! It was great being able to put faces to the forum names. I met some really terrific new friends and had a fun time!
Looks like everyone had a great time. Now it is time to set your sites on Custer! Sounds like it might be tough but could be even better.

Videos are too big right now for photobucket...gotta figure out how to downsize them, or put them somewhere else.
Oh, and you can download your pics in a little bigger size too...you just have to change the size it defaults to....
Any one know where I can stash videos bigger than 100M.... ??? ??? ???

Tammy and I got home at 1:30 p.m. today. Last saw Joe around 12:30 p.m. on I-75 in Ocala, he should be getting home late this afternoon.
We had rain, rain and oh, did I say we ran into some rain?
The funniest thing to me was when we got into Callahan, FL and we went over a RR overpass, there was a sign for a 5% grade that was all of 150 yards long. I almost laughed myself off the bike.
Joe, Tammy and I were talking last night during our unscheduled rain delay outside Columbia, and we all agreed that it was an awesome time spent with some of the nicest people we had ever hoped to encounter.
Us Florida Flatlanders certainly earned our KawaNOW merit badges on this trip.

Did pass Unwind2 in Kentucky on my way back to Texas.
Passed us twice http://s2.images.proboards.com/shocked.gif. Yeah txcwdancer was rolling. 2nd time passed up we were under an overpass drinking water and thought you were long gone. Saw that modulating headlight and told my hubbie - there he goes. ;)
Stopped at a restaurant and a couple came in and walked up to us and asked if we were the ones on the Nomad and Goldwing. They were on a Goldwing and Nomad too. The Nomad was his the Goldwing hers.....told him to check out KawaNow.

Naples Florida check in...
Made it home safely. After I left Coach and Mrs. Coach, uneventful ride down I-75 until I get about 60 miles from my house. Pulled in a rest stop after looking at the skies ahead and there was a severe thunderstorm warning with hail, 60 mph wind gust, and a lot of rain (welcome to Florida in the summertime). Sat in the rest area for about 1/2 hour then put the rain gear back on and headed home. One trouble spot going over the Peace River with wind gust. Had to lean the bike sideways to stay on the road.
As I mentioned before great time meeting great people.
2600 miles total
65 Gallons gas $275
6 nights hotels $375
6 egg McMuffins
Countless cups of coffee
Meeting the nicest people and riding the hills of WV...PRICELESS!
thanks everyone for making me feel welcome..Joe :)

Amy and I are very happy to hear that you made it home safely Joe. Your quote is right on target! The cost of the trip for us was worth every penny. The location was perfect. Riding those WV mountain turns was the best riding I've experienced in 28 years with a motorcycle license. WE totally agree that meeting everyone in person was the highlight of the journey. If you go to the photobucket site trip set up...and I have the name and password if you dont have it, PM me or Trip......Amy (kawgirl) and Brian (dui546) I know have it already too and can help ........
But...there is the main kawanow section when you first sign on and then on the left side of the page there is a box with the 3 regions in it...click on the Eastern to get to "ours"
Also, the resolution is automatically coming up to make the pics smaller size.....you can change that to make your pics bigger (I used the "large" size..........already checked with trip and he is fine with the larger sizes on photobucket.
I found all this out the hard way and had to reload mine....hope this helps you avoid the same thing.

We were talking about making plans for a 'blue ridge mountain - Eastern Tennessee' get-together in the future and possibly a Mt Airy, NC get-together. I am looking forward to it. I was telling some guys at work about our rally and the rides we made. Several would like to make a two day run (with 1 overnight stay) through the Elkins area and I might try and set that up for early fall. I'll post the trip plans plenty of time in advance and y'all are welcome to join in.
Since I've been back I did the following: http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif
1) adjusted my vista cruise following the advice of Todd
2) ordered my stebel (chrome) horn and wiring kit following the advice of Coacha
3) picked up a fuse block at Advanced Auto following the advice of Tex - (now I need to get the Wal-Mart soap dish and do some accessory power re-routing)
Thanks for all the suggestions Guys!
and...I'm sure e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e did number 4...
4) cleaned my Nomad to "pre-rally" condition. Those Nomads were needing a bath with more than an ice bucket! http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
OH YEAH...first thing monday morning mine got a nice warm bath and full spa treatment (sherri was jealous I think :) :) )...put that bike cleaner I won at the drawing to good use....

I'm in if work commitments permit. Elkins was a great time. I still can't believe how terrific everyone at the Rally was. Not one person that I would not be honored to call a friend.

What? You aren't up for a 2600 mile ride? Come on Joe. On the other hand we could meet up in north Florida for some of those stimulating 5% grades. Fun riding for sure, lol.

Amy and Nancy! What a fantastic event you put together. Hayu (aka Fran) and I had a wonderful time. Got home Monday, safe and sound, around 1530 hrs, happy, but tired.

I finally got my computer pack on line... It's been down since we got home until this afternoon.
First off... I want to thank Nancy and Amy for the great job they did with the rally.
Montene and I had a great time! It was great to put faces to the names.
The area was beautiful and great for riding. The train ride was a lot of fun, even in the rain.
The cook out and door prizes were a great way to finish the day.
Now I'm waiting for next month so I can do the rally at Coos Bay, Oregon! Gonna be a loooonnnngggg ride!!
Here's my pictures from the rally..

Hey Wompas glad you made it back safe and sound.
I would like to thank you and everybody else who contributed for door prizes. I think it was a lot of fun - great prizes and everybody got something! I got a kick out of Montene's purple jackets chaps and outfits.
