Does anyone know if a Vulcan 1500 backrest would fit on a 1700 Vaquero ? Cause damn the backrest for a Vaquero are expensive as hell

I had an '02 1500 Meanstreak with the Cobra backrest and luggage rack set up, and now, on my Vaquero, the Fire and Steel unit. There is no way a 1500 or 1600 Vulcan backrest will fit a Vaquero because of the width difference. And, for the Vaquero, you have to punch out holes in the rear upper middle fender section for the mounting hardware with a one inch bit to start, you have to have that mounting kit. The Vaquero backrest is really wide because of that wide fender, where as the 1500/1600 arrangement is much narrower. You can go to Ebay like I did to find the backrest hardware and rest the Fire and Steel ones for much less than the other vendors if there are still people there selling them. Another option is to have a touring seat with the available slot-in rear passenger backrest but again, the expenses come right up. Either way, you will have to part with some good $$ to get it done. I would check with Ebay.

I just checked Ebay and the Fire and Steel KQR backrest is listed for 274.95 and the mounting kit for 160.95 total @ 435.90 ....pretty cheap if you compare these prices with other vendors. The luggage rack is 116.95 on Ebay also so if you add all three, 552.85.

I picked up back rest off a 2006 1600 Nomad spur of the moment and comparing parts to a 2009 Nomad I don't think it will fit. I will get around to seeing if it will bolt on soon when I remove my trunk. I have a KQR kit that I will be using to remount the trunk on to make quick release.
