Brad,
What time did you guys leave this morning?

tomk

We left at 5 AM from Mesquite to beat the heat. The ride out there was hotter than hell so we learned -- "don't do that."

Especially at 100 MPH huh????

Dude I was so frickin hot I couldn't stand it any longer. I rolled that muther on full bore and held it till I got to mesquite.........It was a good thing I did, I almost passed out when I got off the bike!

I'm home. 1,800 miles

I called the wife last night at 10:30pm to warn her that I was coming home all the way home, and not to freak out when I came in at 3:am unexpected. As many might imagine, I was told that I better get a room and sleep and get the last 500 miles in the morning.

I did what would make her happy :)

But after a good nights sleep, I did some more scenic routing and there is a story there. I'll post pics and updates later. Counting Zions, I rode 15 1/2 hours straight yesterday, finished up the last 5 hours today, but my scenic route made it 8 hours toady.

I had a great time! I love going for a ride.

I'm home, 520 miles today. Ten of them took an hour just north of Ogden, Utah. There were rumors of a 5 car pileup and I-15 was plugged. Wolfman, CJ, Audiogooroo and his Harley riding brother all dropped off at their respective points along the way. I gotta tell ya, my Nomad got 32 mpg on one stretch and that Harley got 52 on the same stretch. They have their points.

Great time in the desert. A little warm for my taste. Coming home from Zion NP was the proverbial blast furnace ride. Actually had sweat blowing around inside my helmet.

My wife is surprised, and I suspect somewhat disappointed, that there are no axe murderers in our group. This was a bunch of awesome people and some really great riders. I am proud to call all of you "friend". Thanks for a great weekend. Idaho.

I replied in the other check-in thread, but I'll humor BD and respond here as well. I can't stand the sight of a grown man pouting.

I made it to Salt Lake City in one piece, accompanied in part by Audiogooroo and his brother, Wolfman and Mrs. Wolfman, and Idaho. I'll be staying here in SLC until Wednesday, then I am riding to Blanding, UT where I will stay overnight and then return to the Phoenix area on Thursday.

I feel badly that I didn't personally get to thank each of you for coming, and wish you well on the ride home, but it seems we were all leaving Mesquite at different times.

A big thank you to those who attended the rally. It was nice to meet you all and see you (and your Nomads) in person. I had a great time, and I sincerely hope everyone else did as well.

Checking in Captains. We left Mesquite @ 7:30am & arrived in Sacramento at 8:15pm. Total round trip 1349 miles.

I would like to thank TRIP for bringing this awesome group of riders together. Thank you to Wolfman & Cactus Jack for taking the responsibility to organize & lead the '08 Western Rally. I rode at the rear of the formation & seeing the parade in front of me was a delight to see.

Checking in here, also. Round trip a little over 1100 miles. Decided to take the weekend to get back. Glad I did, the temperatures were abominable. Rolled into Chandler this morning about 9:30. I had a very nice time and had the pleasure of meeting a bunch of very nice people. I hope we meet again in slightly cooler temperatures.

Hey fella's - Got back the 29th after two weeks on the road. 3,062 miles of twisties! It was a fantastic ride and having the rally in the middle was just right! It was great to meet those we were able to hook up with. Thanks WM & CJ for your work making this happen.

We enjoyed the ride with Dan from Bryce to Mesquite. By the way my man - Patty's fine, and still smiling. BD, Nico and the Hooligans were a treasure to find in the desert. Audio and brother, just fine folks. Idaho? Another real man! It was cool meeting the Caddman and wife too. Redeye's family is always a treat! We are happy to have met you all! Wish we had more time to visit together.

We're off to Oregon in two weeks for another one of these deals..... Hope to see everyone in South Dakota next year. In the meantime, we'd like to see our Westside brothers on a run to northern California sometime. We have some gems of a road up this way. If you're ever wanting to ride this way, we are fueled up and ready to roll the power on!

I'm happy to know you made it home safely, Valdez. It was a pleasure meeting you and your wife at the rally. Must be heading up to the VROC rally in Oregon?

Hey Valdez,

Lets hook up on the way to custer next year.

CJ - That's it - Leaving for the VROC Oregon Trails International Rally on June 16th. We'll be taking the coast route up. You're welcome to join us for the ride if you've the mind.....

WM - I'd be honored to ride to SD with you. Let's plan it!

By the way I've ridden this Nomad now for one year and will break 22,000 miles this week. I told Patty if I didn't have a job to go back to I would have turned this bike around and headed right back to Utah! What a beautiful state to ride through....

Ron, I'm sorry we didn't get to yack more. These things are always too short to get to know everybody. I'm trying to get the hooligans up to the Sequoias for an overnighter once the weather cools off a bit. We'll keep in touch.

Likewise Valdez. Every group needs a hard core biker and I nominate you as ours!! What little we did get to chat I realized I could have listened to you all week on where you've ridden to and some of your finer moments in life! I was very entertained by your company..... Thanks for coming...

A ride up north is in order for BD !!!

We came through the Sequoias as well as Yosemite last week on the return from Mesquite. Quite a bit of smoke, but we'd do it again with the Hooligans. We stayed in the Squaw Valley Motel for about $70 I think. It's approximately 25 Miles west of King's Canyon on the fun and twisty road toward Fresno

Welcome to forum man. You still coming out to CO in August?

Dwain, I still got Mac's old Nomad emblems & we can glue 'em right on the tank of that Harley.

OK, sure the bike will loose $10,000 in value instantly, but think of all the H-D owners you'll be able to freak out. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
