I need an opinion on the kawi gel seat. I know it's not a mustang or corbin but at $250 I'm wondering how well it will perform. I'm only needing it for 2-3 hour rides due to a bad back. Not really wanting to spend 700 0n a mustang if this will serve it's purpose. I'm not riding cross country and the stock seat is fine for about an hour. Any 1st hand opinions would be appreciated

I had a gel pad on my 1500, it wasn't too bad in the cooler weather, but on the hotter days it would heat up like a heating pad and get very uncomfortable. I would sometimes put the pad in the freezer at work, and then it would be better for the ride home.
Overall it wasn't much better than nothing. The best cure was replacing the seat with a Russel Daylong. That solved all the comfort problems.

Get a airhawk no longer than you ride the airhawk should solve your problem.

I got the gel seat for my Voyager, sat me higher and squeezed the jewels. Went back to the stock seat.

I hate when that happens.

I had a Gel seat on my Voyager for a little while - Actually was the heated Gel . .. It was good for about 400 miles for me . . . then started to chafe my inner thighs . . . I also had a Mustang with the same results . . . Now I have an RDL and couldn't be happier . . .
With your projected seat time, the Gel seat could be what you need . . . or try a sheepskin seat cover . . .

If you like your Scrotum to stay intact then stay away from a gel seat!

I had the Kawasaki gel seat on my Voyager. It was no better than the stock seat in my opinion. Eventually went with the RDL

For the Vaquero, there is the regular gel seat and then the gel seat, touring, which visually looks different in that the passenger portion is clearly thicker. Which gel seat is getting the poor reviews? Both of them?

I purchased the Kawi touring gel seat used (it was in perfect shape) and I really like it. 4 days of 8+ hours of riding with no issues. The original stock seat killed after about 2 hours of riding. I paid $100 for it plus shipping and would jump at that again in a heart beat.
Looks like TimLewis has one for $125 plus shipping. I would suggest buying it and trying it out. If you don't end up liking it you should be able to find someone to take it off your hands to try it for themselves.
