So before I ask my question let me tell ya , most of this stuff is new to me. I have a all black bike and I think my 1st mod will be changing the chrome exhaust for a freedom performance flat black exhaust. Once I buy the exhaust is there anything else I need to do to the bike or can I just unbolt/ bolt on the new exhaust. do I need to change anything else ? Any advice you could provide me would be greatly appreciated .

You will need to get a power commander 5 and an map to adjust the fuel air mixture. You don't have to get the power commander specificity but I feel that is the best one. With that you can gher the auto the also..

Hey Trust , is this something [I] Could do myself [I] know ABSOLUTELY nothing about any of that I could replace the exhaust. [I] have done minor repairs i.e. Replace brakes, rotors, shocks . But never done anything like that. Oh and last but not least what is a map ?

Damn I just looked up the power commander 5 holy sh.t that's expensive. Exhaust 945 $, power commander 5 300$, your talking serious dollars .

you got this. i just installed mine and it took less than an hour but its because i was very careful. buy new gaskets for the exhaust. can never go wrong with that and its only 10 dollars. if you want the full improvemnet you will need to get a new air intake (thunder manuf.) and some kind of fuel processor like power commander or cobra or bunch of other ones out there. thats another 600 dollars or so. well worth it. just sold bunch of stuff to buy it for my bike

You get what you pay for. Top dollar for the best products. Powercommander V is the best way to go.

You can also just install the pipes and leave the rest stock for a while. That will give you time to save for the tuner and a new air intake.

Okay so I can just install the exhaust for now and purchase the rest later. Will the bike still run okay with the new exhaust without all the other stuff.

Yes it will, but if you install a BAK (Big Air Kit) you will also need the tuner at the same time. When you change how much air is going into the engine you need to change the fuel mixture also. By installing the pipes only that does not affect the fuel/air ratios so no tuner is needed.

I'm sure much more experienced riders will explain this much better.

Greetings Thule,

From what I understand, with only the FP (Freedom Performance) pipes modification. You run the risk of taking already slightly LEAN situation and making it worse.
Do not put off the PC-V upgrade too long.
There are many here who swear by the benefits of the PC-V and a good BAK.
You will need and want all three to make you bike sound, run and be healthy!

Ride safe,
Smokier

i wrote a long post on this subject, im not sure if its proper to paste it here because its long, but its titled "Freedom Performance True Dual Full Report",

in short you MUST have the PC III with ignition control to use these pipes, and i also have info about the baffles, the pipes are super loud unless you get the quiet baffles,

Just food for thought. There are two models, The California model, and the Racing model.

The Calif. model will Not allow you to make any changes to the stock settings in the lower rpm bands and gears. This is the area we all generally operate. Zero to 3600 rpm. Look for the picture that shows the grayed out area.

The racing model Will allow changes in all rpm ranges and gears.

Life would really suck if you get the one you cant make changes to your skoot and you shelled out that kind of money.

Just remember, the difference between the men and the boys is how long you are willing to save for your toys.

Just send your ECU to Ivan in New York For 350 bones he will reset everything and take all the restrictions away. You will not need any kind of tuner and the PCV you have to flash a map/s and it still might not run your bike right. You can do your intake and exhaust also and with Ivan's ECU flash your motor will run like a different unit altogether. Go to his website on the thread he posted and give it a preview. Freedom makes a matte black 2-1 pipe for hundreds less than the dual system and shaves off weight, and performs better.

Trrust32 your bike looks great with the 21 inch hoop up front nice job. You brought up a point being with your bike lowered a bit, obvious compromise on cornering clearance. The Freedom 2-1 Combat exhaust has the best clearance of any system you can put on the bike. It tucks in close and higher.

Just to clarify ithe scuffs were not due to the bike being lowered.. The pipes were damaged from a slight altercation I had with the pavement.

now that Ivan s ecu re flash is available that sounds like the way to go .. if done right it will fix all the drivability problems at a fraction of the cost and is not just a band-aid

2014 with Freedom Performance duals with stock air.

Changed the pipes 1st and rode for a couple of months. Had a lot of backfiring.

Installed the PCV and finally found a map from a fellow member with the same setup (It was hard to find one) and it runs a lot better with minimum backfiring. Sounds a whole lot better also.

If you choose to get the pipes and power commander and leave the stock air please get in touch with me and I'll email you the map that I currently use.

Good Luck
