Hello everyone.....I joined up a week ago or so and have just been lurking a bit to see what goes on here. I am the proud owner of a 2008 two tone red and black Nomad and am enjoying the heck out of it so far. I worked my way up to it from a 04 800B Vulcan which i also really enjoyed. I dabbled in and got caught up in the mystique of a Harley Davidson but it turned out to be a bad experience and I'm over that now <BG>.
I have a question for anyone that owns a Mutazu trunk. I ordered mine and received it in the mail yesterday. I got a wrap around back rest with it but it sure seems to be sorely lacking in padding. Has anyone else here have one of these and how do their passengers like those back rests? I'm thinking I may have to go and get it repadded to make it more comfortable for my wife who didn't look all that thrilled when she first saw the back rest....lol. I also got some brackets and such but not a lick of instructions on what goes where. Any help there would also be appreciated.
It's nice to meet you all and I hope to do lots of riding and posting here in the future.
:)

Welcome from NW. Georgia. Cactusjack I think recently added one of your style trunks, and for safety's sake, I would suggest getting a rack that is made for a trunk to mount on. The sissy bar luggage racks are only made to support 10-15 lbs. It shouldn't cost too much though to have the backrest re-worked.

Welcome to the Nomad Nation from the Grand Canyon State!

I have a Mutazu trunk, but I didn't buy the wrap-around backrest as I seldom carry a passenger. I know the stock backrest that comes with the trunk feels like its padded with cardboard. I don't think it would be too hard to replace the padding in the backrest with something more humane.

I mounted my trunk on a Wompus rack, which is really the only way to go. The Wompus can handle the weight of the loaded trunk and the stress of use as a backrest. The only parts from the Mutazu mounting kit I used were the 2 flat brackets which I used in the bottom of the trunk to attach it to the rack.

Enjoy your beautiful (even if it's not all black http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif) bike and get some pictures posted. Good luck with the trunk, feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Welcome from Arkansas. I just installed a Mutazu trunk this weekend. It was given to me by a friend who had it on his Harley and sold the Harley. My bikes black and so is the trunk, Oh so lucky... I built my own rack. I wanted it bolt on like the Wompass rack but keep my chrome siderails to help hide the rack and of course I like chrome. I only used the long brakcets to bolt the trunk down with in the inside. also ordered the spoiler with LED light and the lower lumbar pad. ( mine didn't come with one ). Padding is not that great though. I may also have to repad mine.
