We rode in some rain the other week Bud and Lloyd was looking where the dirt was collecting from rain water. I told him not even to tell me where he was looking but to look if it's still there next year http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

My wife always tells me "you're going to clean the paint off that thing" :) and that "that looks like a lot of work". I tell her that "It's a labor of love" http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif. And she likes riding on a clean shiny bike. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif. The best thing I've found to get the bugs off is a little pump spray bottle with hydrogen peroxide in it. Spray it on and let it set for a minute and bubble up on the bug guts and parts, then just wipe it off. It doesn't affect the paint, clear-coat or the wax, just organic matter. Earlier this week, I carried my fairing and side covers to a paint shop to get flames painted on them http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif. I told the guy that I would have cleaned the bugs off, but since it was going to get a new paint job, I didn't bother. He showed me his trick to getting bugs off. He took a dryer sheet (like you use when you dry your cloths at home. He said any type of dryer sheet would work, as long as it was a new, unused one) He wet it and wiped my fairing with it, and the bugs were gone. He said it doesn't affect the paint, clear-coat or wax. He also said you needed to wash your hands after you do it, but it worked pretty slick http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif. I think I'm going to stick with my peroxide though. ;)

I had someone tell me I should ride a BMW.Something to the effect they wear bugs with honor. I think that was at the car wash and I was pulling a bird out of the forks that had been there for a week.LOL. But hey,it's time to ride.

I try and keep her clean...but being that I commute on her everyday, rain or shaine, it get's kind of hard to do everyday!! Seems like it used to be easier to clean...I guess it's the hectic summer time right now with kids and 'honey-do's' eating up most of my days and weekend!!

hey...at least I have good intentions!!! LOL!

Step 1 (Usually skip this and go straight to polish, but did it this time since the paint is 2 yrs old now) Deep Crystal System Paint cleaner, a non-abrasive paint cleaner, has been improved to deliver even stronger performance with no chemical odor. It safely removes road grime, surface contamination, light oxidation, swirls and light scratches to restore damaged and dull finishes. Prepares all paint finishes for polishing and waxing. obviously copied from their website

That looks like ALOT of work. Mine will be washed and waxed. I'm riding tailgunner, so you get all the bugs first. If you have some magic, make sure you cover both of our bikes with it.

You never know. I was riding tailgunner when a bee flew in my tee-shirt and was stinging me. I was slowing down trying to squash-squish (? spelling) the bee while everybody else kept going. I finally killed the bee and caught up with them. Ouch!
