Being I just got my 2012 Voyager with 17K on the clock I plan on going thru and replacing all fluids just so I know where Im at ....I would assume its fine to use like prestone coolant as long as its aluminum safe , Correct ? Also what type of mileage do you guys seem to be changing brake pads at ? I know this varies with driving habits ...the pads on my bike look like theres a just shy of a 1/4'' of material left . Cant wait to get out and ride this thing....

you are correct on the coolant.living in the wide open spaces of Wyoming I have never had to replace break pads so I am no help there.

Some people go thru brake pads every 5 thousand miles and some people go 50 thousand miles. Where you ride and riding style varies too much to put a definitive number on when to change the pads.

I put 88,000 miles on my 2007 Nomad and only had to change the brake pads one time.

Some of us like our coffee or a drink while we're riding.

I thought those cups were for chew spits. Coffee sounds like a great idea.

I put drink holders on my and Cindy's bike when we went to the National in Colorado.
I was worried about the dehydration thing everybody talked about.
Didn't need them and they came off as soon as we got home.

If I remember right you both looked rather dehydrated . Maybe you should have used them.... :D

For the $30+ dollars I change them evertime I get a new tire. Alot cheaper than having to buy new rotors.

I have just over 100,000 km's (60,000 miles) on my 2011 Voyager and still on the original brake pads. Dealer just changed tires and told me that belt and brake pads are still in good shape. Mind you I am pretty easy on brakes, I do a lot of downshifting and let the engine help slow the bike down. Good luck with new ride. I think you will really enjoy it.

Just as or more important is flushing the brake system. It should be done revery two years or less. If you can, put stainless steel braided brake lines on too. It will improve the braking feel and effectiveness. HH pads have more bite too.

Just goes to show how good Rotella T-6 synthetic is :yep:
44,000 miles between oil changes is pretty low upkeep :D

I knew I shouldn't have told you and Scott about that :ohno:
I was led to believe " What happens in Colorado stays in Colorado"

On the coolant I use Kawasaki coolant....easy to order on say, Amazon. Or, you can go like I do on my 1500 Vulcan Meanstreak and use Cycle Logic "ICE" racing coolant....I think that is the best coolant available.

I used the prestone 50/50 premix. It's good for 5 years/150K miles.

I lived in NY and Iowa where it never got much below -15F and I kept the bike in a garage anyway. In AZ, there's no worry about low temps and I have an air/oil cooled bike now.
