Just picked up a 2012 Voyager with 17k on the clock for about $10,500 out the door with 3yr warranty....pretty sure I got a good buy. Bike was owned by a older guy with health issues so he traded it for a trike....Bike is very clean . Have some questions ?? I have no owners manual . What weight of oil is to be used ? what filter ? oil change and fill tips please? What kinda of life expectancy can I expect from the bike ? 100K ? I am pleased with the purchase but have lots of questions....bike rides way better than my Harley did ....and more power. Since this bike is air cooled I was thinking rotella 15-40 ....are there any valve adjustments?

I believe you can download an owner's manual from the Kawasaki website.

The owners manual may be tucked under the seat with the tool kit.

your bike is not just air cooled, the heads are water cooled.you should use 10-40 oil but the rotella would be okay also.no valve adjustments are needed.

Ok...how does the seat come off..?
In the left side cover there is a key hole. Put your ignition key in it and turn it, that unlocks the seat. The seat is two pieces, you have to take the passenger seat off first then lift up on the drivers seat to remove.

We have one owner on this forum, GV550 who has something like 250K miles on his 2009 Voyager. I wouldn't worry about putting 100K miles on it.

I got the seat off thx for that help .....No owners manual sadly, But I did do some exploring ....Bike has after market pipes , Power commander , K&N Air Filter ( needs Cleaned) Called Kawasaki as I'm not able to open the PDF version of the Manual on the Web.... I sure would like to check all fluids and possibly change oil before I do much riding as well as check the plugs and possibly replace. any info you guys can share if time allows would be most appreciated .

No need to replace the plugs at 17K.

Welcome from Italy!
As far as oil goes I use a blend, 10-40 usually Spectro Golden 4. There are two drain plugs under the engine so be sure to drain oil from both. I also use a HiFlo HF303 oil filter. Others will chime in and let you know what they use. It is all a personal preference.

Welcome. I use 20/50 Kawasaki performance motor oil in my Vaquero and the KN303 K&N filter. The 20/50 gives better protection for long stroke v-twins especially in summer when things get real hot. The 1700s all come with iridium spark plugs which last a long time. When it comes time to change them, you have to pull the tank and need the Kawasaki special spark plug tool to get them out. Take good care of that motor, especially oil changes and you can muster at least 100,000 trouble free miles out of your Voyager. The valves being hydraulic lash adjusters, never need tuning for the entire life of the motor. I change coolant about every 3 years or so and when I do, I use Cycle Logic Ice racing coolant.

special tool for the plugs ? please enlighten me . I kind of a maintenance nut ...I will soon change out the brake fluid and clutch fluid , and oil change along with a coolant flush and fill....if the plugs are iridium I can see not changing this soon....but .....I like to check everything out after buying something used.....is the 20/50 kaw oil synthetic or dino
