It was a little bittersweet as I watched someone else kick his leg over my beloved Nomad. It served me very well over the last 6 years, but during our trip at the 74th Sturgis Rally, the wife and I decided we needed a bigger bike.

I test drove the new HD Road Glide and a Victory Cross Country Tour while at the rally. I really liked the way the Road Glide handled, but didn't like the price and the wife said it was to crowded. Then we got on the Victory and we loved the amount of room, it had plenty of power, and was very easy to drive for such a big bike. We didn't pull the trigger on a bike at the rally, but decided something bigger was on the short list for near future. We test drove a new Voyager from a local dealer, but just didn't get the warm fuzzy, feeling about it.

About 3 weeks later I ran across a smokin deal on a 2012 Victory Cross Country Tour from a private seller. It was sunset red and I had my heart set on black, but the deal was just to good, so I had to settle. What an awesome bike. The amount of storage is incredible. The power is great. The Witchdoctors exhaust sounds really good. The sound system is very good and I'm still getting used to the cruise. Oh yeah and the cool evening rides are extended with the heated seat and grips.

So after storing 4 motorcycles (2 are the kid's bikes) in the garage all winter, the Nomad finally sold.

So I guess you can add one more from the forum that went over to the evil Victory "dark side".

So long trusted friend. You were a great ride and will be missed (until I start the XCT).

Congrats on the new ride. Sounds like it was something you needed. I have always been a fan of the Victorys.

Congratulations on the new ride. Seems to be a popular pick as a next bike for Nomad owners.

Have fun.

Congrats on the new bike. It sounds like the Vic XCT is the way to go for 2 up riding.

Preach on Brother BD! Welcome to ,as they say the Various Baggers Club. You're telling my story. Tell a little about your purchase. You're going to hurt my feelings if you got a better deal. Mine was a 2012 also, black (I wanted white) 11K miles and lots and lots of extras. We drove from Houston to Oklahoma to get it. Now.....your turn. Oh, and great bike, huh?

Mine is a 2012 and it had 8900 miles on it. The previous owner had already installed the Witchdoctors exhaust. It sounds really sweet. And he also put the locks on the lower cubbies. Only thing I'm thinking of changing so far is the windsshield.

Best part is he was asking about $500.00 below book value, and that is why I didn't get the black XCT that I had my heart set on.

That is a good deal. The locks are a nice touch. And you certainly can't beat the milage, wow.
I rode around for a while with the stock windshield, but just couldn't live with it being so tall. Especially on foggy mornings, it would fog up and visability became a real problem. Despite the fact that he had already purchased two other wind shields and sent them with the bike, I really liked the LR Shield on my last bike, so bought one of those, the recurve, tinted, and installed it. It is great, I now look over and it does every thing it should, but I learned that this shield is made from a different material than the ones for the batwing fairings. It has more distortion than I like. I am 5-9 on a tall day and the 14 inch was perfect for me. Maybe you can gauge your need off of that info. The PO had installed the stage one, upper and lower bag racks, trunk rack, various chome covers, two inch pull back bars, in addition, he sent two other sets of bars with it. The bag liners, the trunk liner, the trunk bag that sits on top, the kicker stereo upgrade, the tires were new, chrome front and back fender trims, the back rest and rack to install when you take the trunk off, the passenger grab rails, and a few other bits. Aside from the windshield, the only add ons I've done are the Lloydz timing wheel, you will want one of those, and the arm rests for baby. They are nice and very heavy duty, and she loves them. Happy wife.......right? Altogether, his final asking was 13,500.
One word of warning.....the more your ride this thing, and especially if you ride it in places you used to ride your Nomad, after a while it will almost become boring. You'll find yourself coming up to a turn you used to make with your Nomad at say, 30Mph, and hitting it at 40 on the Vic and going Ho-Hum, maybe next time I'll try 45. These things are really that easy to ride. I hit old sixty mph sweepers now at seventy five just as relaxed and easy as anything. Have fun testing the limits. You can do that on this bike, no sweat! Again, Congratulations.... and look for those of us with dual citizenship on the VOG.
