Well not a new backrest but a newly modified one. I took the grasshopper driver backrest from my 2004 Vulcan 1500 classic and modified the bracket to mount on the Vaq stock seat. It does not interfere at all with the locking mechanism. I just need to bolt it down underneath to the steel plate that catches the locking mechanism.

What do you guys think?

Good idea. It looks stock. Nice.

Ya that backrest looks real good. I see why they put passenger pegs instead of boards on the Vaq. With that piece of crap seat for the passenger they really can't expect anyone to sit on that - can they??

My wife was gonna give it a try this weekend on a 300 mile run, she changed her mind.lol

she wants the mustang seat with the driver and passenger back resy, close to the same cost of just the Kaw detatchable sissy bar.

I have the mustang seat with driver and passenger back rest, it's very good indeed.

My girl LOVES the back seat and sissy bar on the Mustang. Unfortunately, I hate the Mustang. I have the Corbin Young Gun, and absolutely LOVE it. Of course, that means she can't ride more than about 100 miles due to the design of the passenger section. Corbin will actually tell you it's not really made for passengers. Just need to get the old '95 500 LTD running for her like she's been asking, and both of us can be happy again.

If only the bike manufacturers would admit the same thing as Corbin

believe it or not I actually like the stock seat I will take the Mustang off whenever I'm not riding two up. The backrest I modified is for when I ride distance alone. I did not see where kawi made one for the stock seat even though the slot is there.:ohno:

The front part of the Vaq seat does look like my Nomad seat. And yes I do like the stock seat as well. I find it every bit as comfortable for me as any aftermarket seat I have tried

The seat on my 1500 classic on the other hand was a piece of chitt. I replaced it 2 years ago with a saddleman gel seat. Love that seat. Just did 700 miles to Daytona and back with no complaints from the wife and no Monkey Butt for me.
