Hi Everybody,
I wanted to post this thread and waited until I talked with Trip about it to get his opinion and approval on posting it.
I would like to call Saturday's ride a "Memory Ride" and dedicate it to my dad. He also had Alzheimer's and it can be a mean disease at times. I would like to ask for those who would like to do so, donate money that I would like to send in to the Joseph and Kathleen Bryan Alzheimer's Research Center(Bryan ADRC) in Durham, NC in Dad's memory. This was the organization my mother chose for folks to donate to in lieu of flowers when Dad passed away. Here is a link with a little more info. http://adrc.mc.duke.edu/adrc.HTM
Thank you for your time and consideration with this. If anyone needs a mailing address for this, please let me know.
Ride safe and take care,
Amy

KawGirl,
Can you check the link? I couldn't open it.
BTW I think that's a great idea for the Saturday ride.

Try this. It was slow loading up when I tried it again. From there, you can go to different areas of the site. http://adrc.mc.duke.edu/
My mother knows nothing about this at this point. I would like to give her a total from the KawaNOW group after the rally. I may call the center and ask them if they can keep a total that comes in so I can get it from them later this month. Please include that you are a KawaNOW member so she and I will know who the donation is from if you send it in before the rally.
The folks at Duke in Durham, NC sure are great people!
If you would like to send it yourself, here is the address.
Joseph and Kathleen Bryan Alzheimer's Disease Research Center
2200 West Main Street
Suite A-200
Durham, NC 27705
Make the check out to: Bryan ADRC
Dad's name is Lindell Neal
Thank you again for your support. You guys are the greatest!

FYI All - Just wanted to say I'm planning on bringing a donation in an envelope with Kawgirl's dad's name and the name of the foundation to give to Amy at Saturday's ride. I think this will make the Saturday ride very special.

Don't seal the envelope. I will give something at the rally also.

Hi Kawgirl,
I'm sorry I didn't know about the donations, I would have liked to make a contribution. My Dad died 1 year ago yesterday with Alzheimer's, so I know what it is like, he lived over ten years with the disease. And it did affect our family greatly.
How about thinking about this. Since the two of us and maybe others in our area that we don't know have family with Alzheimer's why don't we think about doing a Nomad KawaNow benefit charity ride-rally in the future. Think about it and we can talk further if you might be interested.

I would love to talk about it Nomad1600. I have had plans running around in my head for something like that for a few years now. Would love to make it happen.
