Morning everyone,

Wanted to know, or get advice, on what you do for rock chips on your front fender?, it seems mine is a magnet for them. I do travel mainly highways with large truck traffic ( that doesn't help ) The front fender trim would hide most, but some of the chips are higher up the fender. I thought when I first got the bike that I would try the 3M treatment on the fender but I never did do it. Sort of regretting it now. If anyone has any ideas I would be appreciated.

No sh!te. I have chips in the front fender that are in the back. WTF. THe paint does not seem to be very durable. Colorite (http://www.color-rite.com/) makes touch-up pens, but the only thing I might advise is a urethane clear coat or some clearcoat that is more durable.

I really don't sweat them. My scoot is 9 years old now and has quite a few chips especially on the front fender. I have some Color-Rite touch up paint, but I think that makes them look worse.
But I didn't buy my bike to show it, I bought it to ride! :)
No worries.

Mine's not a parade queen too, but I don't want rust to set in and the chips to open up and spread. I still say the paint could be better. I wonder how other manufacturers stack up?

I'm with audiogooroo on this one. Since they quit using lead in the paint, it's just not durable (look at the front of your car). If your going to ride it, It's gona get chips. I even have them on the front of the side covers and saddlebags and I never go off road.

Actually, I just had another thought. I was washing the bike and it occurred to me, based on the location of some of the chips, could they be caused by stones hitting from underneath? I wonder if taking the fender off and using an undercoat would help?

No worries.

I spent $48 on three Color-Rite pens for one chip on my front fender. I touched it up and it looked worse. I polished the touch up paint out and left the small chip. I noticed another one just a couple of inches from the first one. I'll just have to live with them.

Same here, there just no way to make it look right color wise even with the Color-rite pens. Now there's a nice .22 caliber bullet hole decal to cover it up.

If you ride it that's what happens. I know a guy that has a 2003 model bike with less than 2500 miles, bike looks like new what a waste. Now I don't mean you have to destory it but use it.
