Joined the forum a couple weeks ago thought I'd say hey.

I ride a 2006 Black 1600 named "Storm", basically what the kind of weather that seems to follow me. Have logged about 7K since I got it in December and love it. Came from an 02 Meanstreak which I had about 55K on and can definitely say I'm more comfortable, but still getting used to less clearance, got really tested on my spring mountain trip, you know you have problems when you are scarping frame bolts. I'm a member of the Greater Raleigh SCRC and AMA.

We spent a week last year in the area you are going for the Eastern Rally and it's just hard to find a bad road (aside from stones on the right hand switchbacks, or getting behind a coal truck) and we had a blast. Would love to join you but not going to work.

Already bought one of Lonnie's back rests based your recommendations for when I ride solo, used it on the weekend and it works great.

Welcome mako from next door (north Raleigh). http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Boy is my face red. :-/ I didn't even know about the Greater Raleigh SCRC. I thought the only groups in Raleigh were strictly
Hog related. http://s2.images.proboards.com/tongue.gif

I will have to check it out.

Welcome from the Sunny San Joaquin Valley, Mako. I've never been through the Carolinas, but some day I will do it. Probably when I'm retired and old and slow, and people will be honkin' at me to speed up. Wouldn't want to hurry through it anyways, right?

Hey Mako, welcome from NY State. Question, why the backrest when riding solo only. You lean back on the passenger when you have one ;)

Thanks all. Not sure about a peg monkey, the missus just calls me juvenile. I just say it's important to learn the limitations of the bikes you ride, of course if you never grow up you can't grow old. Drop me a note if you are interested in GR SCRC, we're headed to Williamsburg and back Saturday. One of the few groups I've run into that really like to ride...and eat.

I'm originally from Ontario and trying to plan a loop North along the mountains into Lake George and then over the border to hit Ottawa west to Parry Sound (original home base) and then Burlington (where mom lives) and back sometime in July.
