Hey all!

Decided to clean up the front end of my Vaq with a set of Zepto Lights from High Tech Speed. Got 'me yesterday and wired them in to test them and they are gonna look badazz when the custom mount is finished and everything is installed!

The lights are LED and caused the blinkers to flash too fast. From reading online I figure I need to add a couple of load resistors to slow down the rate. Not a problem as I'm relatively handy with a soldering gun. However, I see that there are numerous sizes (ohms/watts) of these resistors and haven't the foggiest notion of what size might be needed.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm not certain what size is needed. In this case, to slow the flash rate you need to add enough load to fool the blinker into thinking an incandescent light is installed. That much load will build heat, and a product called a "load equalizer" is what you need.

My beef with load equalizers is that they defeat one of the purposes of LEDs, reduced electrical load.
If looks is your only concern, get a load equalizer, if you want to reduce electrical draw, let me know and I'll point you to more involved solutions.

they make electronic flashers that don't need loads Superbrightleds.com haven't tried them yet but planning on it

If you look at High Tech Speed they also have an Electronic flasher that will correct your flash rate. if you happen to use a Load Equalizer be sure to get one that will work with 4 way falshers, if it is not rated for the 4 ways it will overheat when the flahsers are used.

Where abouts did you place these lights? If you can post pictures of them on your bike it would be great. Looking to do the same thing.

An electronic flasher is what I used, but you lose self-canceling feature (unless you can point me to a new one). And in my experience, it's not a direct swap. I had to test to figure out which wire to attach to which post of the new flasher.
I made a ref image that is posted in the "electronics" portion here on VBA forum. I'll grab the link.

This is a write up I did for the Nomad, but the Vaquero was a much easier job. For the Vaq and Voyager, replacing the blinker is all you need to do (no soldering) :) .

Hey peoples!!

Sorry it took so long to get back to this. For whatever reason my bosses believe that I enjoy working overtime!! (which is partially true depending on whether I need new bike parts or a vacation! LOL)

Jest, Thank You for for posting the link to your ref page. That's exactly what I was thinking of doing but had no idea how to go about it, hence the use of load equalizers!

Nomadz, I built a temp housing which I bolted in place of the OEM blinker bar. A buddy of mine is making a custom mount out of aluminum which will be engraved with "Vaquero" and finished to look good. In the meantime I'll try and post a couple pics of the lights.
