I didn't know what area to post this in so I chose here. Does anyone know if Color-Rite is the only company that has paint codes for Kawasakis? I know body shops can computer match paint but was wondering if anyone has other suggestions.

coacha, what did your boys use to paint your tour pak? That's what I'm looking to get done and have the same year and paint colors as you.

When I got my paint for the trunk, the local paint guy told me that Color-Rite was the only distributor that had the codes that she knew of.

I had them run their fancy color match machine on the bike and we came up with some colors that are pretty darned close. I will post a picture when it is done and you can judge for yourself.

My understanding is that Color-Rite is the only one with the paint codes. And boy are they proud of their product.
That being said, I know alot of people who have had their local body shop computer match it and it looks great. YMMV

Is there a problem with Color-Rite? Going to need to some touch-up and I figured that is where I'd need to get it after three dealers made the same recommendation.

Ells, Color-Rite is awesome...just obscenely expensive.
When I priced the product to paint my first trunk two colors it was well over $300 just for the paint.

That was what I found AG. That's why I came here to ask. I think I will get the shop to match it. I had one shop to tell me today to expect to pay around $500 to get it painted. OUCH! I'm hoping the shop I'm going to check later this week will be able to give me a better quote.

I'm thinking of painting the trunk black like Ringadingh's with some kind of decal or something or just plain black. Any thoughts on plain black?

Yikes. I was thinking of their pens for $20-30 as I recall. Of course, now I need two. Don't think I'd use the pen tip itself just need to a couple dabs of paint

I figured my paint cost at about $400 as compared to $220 for everything local. No brainer IMHO, even if it is a tad off.

Black will work with your bike because you've got alot of black on it. But if you can swing it cost-wise, some matching red detail would be too sweet!
But, color is subjective, and it's your bike so choose whatever makes you happy! http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
It is really difficult (for me anyway) to pay more for the paint than I did for the trunk. lol

I will be doing the same as well. SOMEONE gave me the AUTO codes for Ford and Dodge that matched my Silver and Blue,,,, Now I cannt find them LOL. NOW BLACK is different,, SEVERAL SHADEs,,I alway thought Black was Black,, My Honda is Black and I did the trunk.. Just checked some paint chips and got pretty close, LPUS side is the Saddlebags and trunks paint line is broken.. so the shade difference is not seen easy ..So a AUTO Paint Shop should be real close w/Black,,,,also Remember you need a Base paint.a mixer for the paint and the clear..,, and the more PREP you do the easier it will be to paint and LESS $$$..... Just my 2 cents.........Rich

Any thoughts on plain black?

My friend had a Vulcan 2000 in a maroonish color. He bought some aftermarket hard saddlebags for it in plain black and I thought it looked cool.

When I had my fairing repainted, the bodyshop matched the paint perfectly. But it wasn't cheap in my opinion, $500.00 for repairing a small crack and painting.
