Now that I've had my 2000 Nomad over a month and have had the chance to put some miles on her I have concluded that Kawasaki really did its homework when it transformed the Vulcan 1500 Classic into the Nomad back in '98. This bike is the best at putting away the miles out of any bike that I have owned or ridden; and it does so in a very gratifying manner. Granted, the previous owner set this bike up very nicely with Vance & Hines Baggers (exhaust) and whatever else that doesn't show (i.e. jetting & carb setup). The Nomad really shines best when it is cruising at speeds of 50-80 mph. It is so incredibly smooth and stable on the interstate and the sound of the pipes only serves to accentuate that experience. I would only need to put on a Russel's Day Long seat and perhaps a Premeux fairing with lowers to turn my cruiser into a capable transcontinental tourer. Definitely having electronic cruise-control installed to complete the transformation. Ah, life is good!!!
