I just bought an Ion Air Pro 2 action camera to video and take pics on my rides. The problem is I don't know where to mount it. I can't put it on the handlebars because it can't see over the dash. I have a suction cup mount but I've used it before with another camera and the vibration is bad.

Any help or ideas?

Ive seen a few fellas mount it on their helmets, looks kinda funny to me though.

Have you taken a look at Ram Mounts?

Thanks for that link. That might help. I have looked at buying a second helmet just for my camera if I want to video but am hoping to find a way to put it on my handlebar and have it looking over the dash.

I have a Go Pro with a roll bar mount. I have it mounted to the left front crash bar. It provides a cool perspective of what's ahead also showing the front wheel spinning and front suspension.

Engine and dresser bars are where I've mounted mine in the past.

I always mounted the GoPro to my engine guards. I recently picked up an Ion camera and side mounted it to one of my helmets.

My Drift HD camera is mounted to my engine guard as well, and it seems to provide a good perspective shot as others have said. I have (multiple) RAM mounts and they are very solid. I have a helmet mount too, but haven't tried to use it yet.

I've thought about the crash bars but kinda feel like it's a bit low. I want to have a point of view from what I would see so that is why I want it attached to my handlebars. I might have to try the crash bars though. Thanks for the ideas.

Here's photo's from front engine guard mount and rear bag guard mount.
Both are pretty stable and very little vibration while moving. Tried mounting on the handle bars, photos weren't to bad but video was not the best. Just used a ram mount system in both spots.

Those are cool shots. I may do that eventually but I really want it to sit higher. I'm gonna try one of those mounts on my handlebars but if it doesn't work I'll use the guard mounts.

Delna, what was wrong with the video? Was it shaky?

Here's a couple different points of view--

From the top of the helmet. Ring is right. It looks goffy as hell, but it's probably the best view point.

This was mounted to the engine guards. (I'm following loafer and being followed by MacMac)

The vibration was an issue but I bought an anti-vibration mount made for remote helicopters which cut down the shaking quite a bit but the reflection and glare off the windshield was a bigger problem. I tried to move the camera as far out on the handlebars as I could to avoid shooting through the windshield but that caused the vibration issue to increase.

I like the view from the helmet cam a lot better. The problem is I have a helmet that flips up into a half helmet look and if I attach the camera I won't be able to flip it up. I'm considering buying a half helmet specifically for my camera so when I want to video I can just wear that helmet.

Don't flip the helmet when you have the camera mounted, problem solved.:yep:

I would consider that but that means I would have to stop to take the camera off in order to lift my helmet up and I prefer having it up if I'm riding for a while.

I actually found the perfect mount system at http://www.rammount.com/Products/CameraMounts/SmallCameraMountKits/tabid/4699/Default.aspx

I'll be able to attach a mount to my handlebars and have a 14 inch pole that can stick out to the side of my windshield to get the perfect view.
