Question, when is a good time to replace the stock battery, when it dies or is there a recommended mileage or month age life on the them?

Ive waited until it started cranking weak, this is easy for us in the north , since colder temps in the spring and fall will make a weak battery obvious. That said, I got 8 years out of my original Nomad battery, and this is the 4th season on the replacement. If you live in a hotter climate the battery doesn't seem to last as long.

I'm in hot South GA and my stock battery is two years old and working just fine. It sat from October to March and fired right up. Every case is different.

Thank you, I'm thinking same, wait til it starts showing repeat signs of weakness. Planning a long trip this summer and trying to pro active on anything that may act up.

The desert heat will kill a battery faster than the cold will. Any vehicle battery only lasts me 2-3 years.

That's probably right. The OP lives in the Tucson area, so heat will be his battery's enemy.

We get a few days were it can get up to 105 most summers. Its unbearable, I'd take -40 any day.

75-80F works for me. Any warmer than that is a waste of time. 100F is good for nothing except stayin in with the A/C on !

-40 C or -40 F? :hmm:
BTW, I have friends in New Market. Worked there for Magna on winter too. Nice area, but I was glad to have my 4x4 pickup.

It doesn't matter, minus 40 is the same in F or C.
A 4x4 is a handy vehicle around here, even today, theres about 3" of snow and still falling. I have a few pals that work in the Magna plants as well, they are a big employer around here.

Doesn't matter. They are the same temperature.
