For those of you who might give a damn http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh319/sentpacking/giveadamn.gif?t=1396634759

I've unfollowed VBA on Facebook because there is just too much stuff there that I can/do read on the forums. .......FB just ain't the same anymore for me. Too much U.S.A politcal stuff...nothing against my friends, personally that post on FB but..............

Just because something is there doesn't mean you have to read it. The FB page is just another way for people to be involved with VBA. Heck, I don't read half the crap you guys write on here.

I guess it's just because the same basic posts that I can/might/would read on VBA are there on F.B., and I see them regardless if I want to or not....... that's what bugs me I think.
It started off nice and simple where I could stay in touch better and see what my kids were up to socially and chat with them. They live a long ways away ......otherwise I never wanted to join up. Now I'm thinking I might unfriend people just because I don't want to see some of the "stuff" they're posting. .......
I don't read a lot on here either Jared, but I can scan through the post headline and see if it interests me or not. FB...it's just there. I'm just say'in.

Why not just turn off notifications from the group? Then you could see whatever you want (pictures and whatnot) by visiting the group, but you would never see anything from it on your timeline. Same amount of effort as unfollowing, way less effort than unfollowing and posting about it.

I too turn off notifications... If you can't use Facebook to your advantage then Yes you should not have an account.

Some of you sound like you think Facebook is some evil force that will suck you into the depths of hell or something. You start with Facebook and in no time at all, you're hooked on opium.

I have an account because it's a great way to keep up with what my kids are up to.

Agreed, as well as to keep up with friends I have made that I am unable to see personally due to schedules/locations.
FB is a tool that some people confuse for a drug.

I don't have a account and do fine keeping up with friends and family the way I know best. Been around for years the telephone.

Most of the time when someone is frustrated with FB it's because they don't know how to use it to its fullest. I use FB regularly and with much success to advertise my photography business. It's a tool for me and I've made thousands of dollars using it. As a result of using it for work, I have friended, linked, or networked, (whatever you want to call it) with a lot of people. When I friend (I think of it as informal networking) someone, I put them into one of several subcategories and I only keep a couple of those subcategories open from my end. Same goes with groups. I've edited which group I want available to me, which ones I want notifications from. With the VBA FB group I only get notifications when someone who I have friended posts within the group. When I am on FB I only see what I want to see. I only get the notifications I want to get. I see people often gripe about game requests. I don't think I've gotten a game requests for 5 years. Why? Because I've blocked them all. FB is very adjustable. If it wasn't so, I can imagine how frustrating it could be.

With over 2 billion people having personal FB profiles (nearly the world population in 1950) I don't think social media is going anywhere. It will definitely change over the years, but I think it's wise to use it as a form of online communication. Certainly, we could all be on the phones talking with one another about motorcycles too, but the forum seems to be an avenue that works best.

I rarely check into facebook, but do occasionally. Most of it is just self-loving people that post what they did each day. I could not care less. So I quit going there. But whatever, I have better stuff to do with my time.... Like waste it here!

The only social media I have is LinkedIn. That is even enough. It is really a professional/worker's media defined to keeping up with your working buddies and others who have interests like drag racing ,etc. Well, I would accept invitations to anybody on here to LinkedIn, cause I know it doesn't get cluttered up like the others are. Just always have never liked facebook and twitter .

just sayin'

Well,.... I resemble a few of the remarks made. I admit I probably am not using the site correctly. I can't find where the setting use to be !!! FB has made some changes. I'll need to ask one of my kids how to change the suggested settings. Thanks.

No question about it, they definitely like to tweak things. There's been many times that I have had to really dig around to find something.

As for Group settings, just under the photo for the group at the top of the page, there is "Notifications" on the right hand side. Just click it and check 'off', or 'friends' post' and you are good to go

I agree that facebook and other sites are tools to be used to someone's advantage...if set up like you really want. I use it to keep up with family and real friends. I only go on about once a week.

Pretty much my sentiments. About once a month I'll log into Facebook just to see if I've missed something (probably more out of boredom than anything else). After an hour in there I log out and think to myself that I've lost an hour of my life that I'll never get back.

I use Facebook to see what my kids are up to, and keep in touch with a few friends and family members. I have located a couple of my Marine Corps boot camp buddies through it as well. What I don't understand, and probably never will, is the need for some people to post every minute detail of their lives on FB. Oh, I'm eating lunch at such and such a place, etc., complete with photos of their hamburger.

When I helped my son and his wife move to Seattle after Christmas, my daughter-in-law was tagging me on FB the entire trip; "We stopped for gas in Patterson, CA. We had lunch in Pasadena". I found it irritating.

I'm with you and I guess that's my point Scott.....I keep up with the "kids" to see if they are doing "anything" or I Skype them.......
I go to the VBA site when I want to see/read/post on something "motorcycle",...I don't need to see that my old school friend has just bought a "bobblehead". or is having lunch or a coffee at Starbucks.

And twitter....no way... that is just insane from what I hear and can imagine.
