My new old stock 12 Vaq is gone. After three months of headaches. Gear position indicAtor number two is worse, cruise is non functioning with gpi malfunctioning, horrible clack in front of engine now, bike stalled and died twice on way home from dealer, new warranty saddlebag is blemished, horrible throttle response, and fuel gauge not functioning. Happy trails Vaq. Glad the stealership helped get you back to them and swap me for a Star Stratoliner. Good luck with the Vaq everyone.

Sorry to hear a out the bad experience. So far my Vaquero experience has been just the opposite and I love this bike. The Strat is a great bike though. Hope it works out better for you.

That Strat is a beautiful bike!! And I've heard nothing but good things about it. Sorry about the lemon of a Vaq you got. :( Hope you love the new one as much as you wanted to love the old one.

Wow, the bike sounded like a mess. That seems to be a very rare case. Glad to see that you are happy with your new, new ride.

Are the voyagers the ones that have a heat problem, particularly with the passenger heat? I saw one this weekend at a bike rally and really liked it but all I could remember was some sort of heat issue..? I showed it to the wife and her response was I thought you wanted a Harley...for that price just get a Harley. God I love that woman....

She's definitely a "keeper", with that kind of common sense.

All of the 1700's (Voyager, Vaquero, and Nomad) have a lot of heat. The Harley has a bit more as it's air cooled. You can get a kit to redirect the heat on any of the bikes.

I don't think my Harley seems as hot as my '07 Nomad was, especially when that cooling fan would kick on.

The only heat complaint on my bike is the catalytic converter in the header pipe, which conveniently barbeques the back of my right leg. That problem will be gone this weekend, as I replace the stock pipes with an aftermarket set.

Get that in writing and buy that woman a gift! She apparently is extremely smart! :D:cheers:

It's a good thing you didn't let her sit on an Ultra because your Nomad will be gone in a New York minute. We rode a lot of bikes with the pillion in mind and to her the H-D was the hands down winner. The Missus has the next one picked out already. Start saving your pennies and don't worry too much about heat because its the humidity that gets ya.

I once rode my 1600 Nomad with the wife on board into an HD dealership, parked, walked over to an Ultra sitting out front and hopped on for a test fit. The Nomad had WAAAYYYY more room for the two of us. On the Ultra, she was right up against me with no driver backrest. On the Nomad, even with the drivers backrest on my Mustang seat....if I didn't see her get on, I would not have even known she was there. No contest on which was more comfy for two up riding....the Nomad....by far! The 1700's are a different story all together....

I wonder if there is a bad ground in the electrical system, or lose battery connections, or a bad battery:???:?

Stratoliner is a good bike with lots of power. Congrats.

Go easy on the throttle at takeoff or you will be eating tires like my neighbor.
