Well, I had time this weekend to put the Wompas rack onto Big Red in order to secure the Mutazu tour pack. The Mutazu product is pretty cheaply made, but the Wompas Rack is 100% worth the money.
On another note, I no longer have any use for the KQR passenger seat and luggage rack for my 2011 Vaquero. I've got the passenger backrest with the quick release mount and the luggage rack all packed up in the box that the Wompas Rack came in. Ready to sell for $200 if anyone's interested.

looks great but I have to ask, if you had the quick release backrest with the luggage rack why didn't you use that setup to mount your trunk. That was you would have a quick release trunk.

Taz,
I didn't feel comfortable mounting the pack on the KQR rack. Maybe I'm paranoid, but the KQR says it has a 5 lbs limit? The Wompas Rack is REALLY sturdy.

Because luggage racks aren't designed to hold trunks.

Lol! Those are some of the halloween zombie kids I had up in the garage rafters. Besides working on Big Red, my wife's "honey do" list included getting the Easter decorations down and that entailed first getting the Halloween decorations out of the way...
They do look like they're in a compromising position, huh?... :D

maybe not, but I have no doubt at all that my setup using the luggage rack is more then strong enough to support anyone sitting on the passenger pillion. It is very sturdy and not going anywhere.

When I had my 900 it was set up like yours. Trunk mounted on the luggage rack with no problems. I still have the trunk and rack. that will be my next project.

thanks for the feedback capt.....yeah I've had mine set up that way for about one and a half years now. I only use it when my wife rides with me or if I'm doing something where I need the extra storage space, but its solid as a rock.

Does the Wompas rack mount using the saddlebag studs or somewhere else? Hard to tell from the pic.
Now that I look at it, there must be new holes for the rack, right?
Thanks!

Do you still have the sissy bar/luggage rack?

I had a HD trunk mounted on a Kawasaki luggage rack and the mounting tabs broke right off. I too thought it was sturdy enough! :hmm:
