I have a HJC Chatterbox FRS on my bike. It has two two way radio channels that are only good with another Chatterbox system. The unit has a great intercom and aux audio input that I have an MP3 player pluged into so that I can enjoy tunes on the road. Being the typical biker I'm always looking for other options. The J&M JMCB-2003 looks like a very interesting unit. It has a 40 channel CB, 6 channel weather radio, intercom and aux audio input. All for less than 400 bux. The unit mounts on the left handlebar where the control head for the Kawi radio would mount. Unlike the Kawi system nothing goes in the saddlebag. Their literature says that it takes 6 pin connections and I'm wondering if it uses the same plugs as the Chatterbox. Also I'm wondering if anyone here has used one of these radio/audio systems. They seem to be clean and convenient and priced about right. Thanks, Idaho

Idaho - the J&M units are mighty fine CBs, if you want to talk to truckers. I went with an Autocom Active Plus. It is smaller, higs away under the left side cover, and integrates an excellent intercom with MP3, cell phone, GPS audio. I can also tie in a FRS radio, if I feel so inclined.

J&M audio stuff is top quality, but you might want to price all the little pieces you will need before believing the "under $400" statement. I had one of their Integratr IV's ...good enough rig, but the parts and pieces I needed to get it to work the way I wanted ended up jacking a "$150" unit into over $600 purchase. I needed an extra extension and they charged me $90 it for because the 'only way' they sell one is with the PTT switch I already had. All of their connectors are proprietary, meaning that if you ever need a replacement, get out the wallet and pay J&M for it cause you won't find it anywhere else.
I think the only complaints I've ever heard about the CB2003 is that it is mounted, permanently, on top of the handlebar. Other than that, the only thing I would suggest is not skimping on the headsets ...get the deluxe or better ...easier to pay $125 now than to pay $85 two or three times down the road.
