Went to order an I-pod interface cord for my Voyager and the notes say they wont support I-phones. Have seen the 8 inch 30 pin adapter cable but will it interface with radio controls?

This is what I have for my Vaquero. It interfaces with the audio controls

Hey Joe did you use the short adapter or the 8"? Can you change songs and see Name of song the radio screen? Does it charge your phone?

You will also need this to make the iphone 5 to work with the 30 pin setup.

I went to Best Buy, bought the Apple 30 pin to lightning adapter with the 8" cord and it works fine - Charges, shows the tune on the display and can skip to a song you want . . .

Have the 8". Can use the audio controls and also the name of the songs appear on the audio screen. I haven't hooked my phone up because 99% of the time I ride to get away from all that - I only use the phone (which is always stored in my saddle), to text my ol' lady to let her know where I am when on the road.

I installed the Kawasaki I-Pod connector behind the storage compartment, wrapped it with the fuzzy part of velcro so it wont rattle... ran a 30 pin extension cord up to the handle bars and attached an 8"- 30 to 8 pin adapter... installed a Ram X-mount for the phone.... it does everything yens said it would, THANKS!!!

I also use the 30pin-lightning connector and it works just fine. Do not go the cheaper route and get the rigid adapter, the flexible cable makes things much easier to connect.

First ride with the I-Phone 5 and can see and change songs with controls, can choose playlists, artists, genres with controls. when using the Google maps... after the voice gives directions I have to page through the AM, FM, Weather, and back to the aux to get music to play again. Kinda like is stays to get more directions instead of switching back to music. I receive phone calls but they dont seem to interface through the headsets.

Hi Kc-voyager, I am trying to build same set up as you to run the cable up the handlebars to my iPhone 5s inside the ram mount. Problem is the 3 different 30 pin cable extenders I bought don't work for audio, only for charging. Do you remember where you bought yours and how long is it? Also does it charge your phone faster then it discharges? I've had a problem in the past where these cheap cables wouldn't provide enough amps to charger my phone fast enough and it was draining much faster then it was charging...

I found my 30 pin extension cord on ebay I remember looking for the audio support... http://www.ebay.com/itm/30-Pin-Dock-Extender-Extension-Cable-Cord-for-iPad-2-iPad-3-iPod-iPhone-4-4S-/300566754913 hope this gets you there. I bought the $40 8" 30 to I-Phone 5 adapter at Best Buy. I played it all day yesterday 250miles and my phone was charged 90% when I took it off the bike.

Thanks Kc! Exactly what I needed. Tried a bunch of cheap Chinese cables and was ready to give up, none of them preserved control functions through steering controls.

The problem with the cheap cables is that they do not have a digital to Analog. converters. The Apple 5 series is all digital. Those expensive adapters have D/A - A/D converters in them.

Well I am hoping the cable I just ordered from KC's link will do the trick. Seems to work for him

Phone calls come in but when I answer them I cant hear caller. Thinking the calls run through the headphone jack? Maybe?

Ehh I don't worry about that I just want to be able to control music I stream through the phone because stock radio reception pretty much renders it's useless!! Bought an amplified antenna but I heard those are shit too. I'll see after I splice it in
