what coolant are you using? on the gadgets page they talk about engine ice and was wondering if anyone has used it? http://www.gadgetjq.com/coolant_replacement.htm there is also a write up on the maintenance page here that tells how to drain and fill the coolant without taking the tank off?? has anyone tried it?? http://vulcanbagger.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29075

Any coolant that's safe for aluminum is ok for the bike. It's simple to remove the tank. Couple bolts remove the speedo cover, another couple and the speedo comes off, 2 plugs to unplug. Seat comes off in about 3 seconds than a bolt (2? It's been a while) at the rear of the tank. Unplug the 2 plugs on top of the battery. Lift up the rear of the tank enough to put a 2x4 under it then remove 2 vent hoses under the tank. To remove the fuel line, squeeze and pull. After that, pull the tank up and back and it comes right off. It just took me longer to explain it than it will to remove it, especially once you've done it a time or 2 (or in my case, 348 times).

If you're gonna do something, do it right. If you live anywhere near Peru/Kokomo, Indiana, I'd be happy to come over and walk you through it in person.

I use the premixed Honda coolant from the local Honda motorcycle dealer.

On my 2010 Voyager I change the coolant to ICE after about 500 miles. Temp gauge still hits the 3/4 mark and fan will run to half mark. So far good I guess I may change again this spring to regular coolant and see if there is a different. Not for sure though. The reason for doing this is because of the heat, I also had my pipes wrapped. the next thing will be the KAMS system. Really not that bad unless sitting still on a 220 degree payment....lol

Clean the resevoirs before adding the new brake fluid. Lots of crud builds up in the bottom.

I used a mighty vac when I did fluid on my Nomad.

I noticed this past summer, my Nomad seemed to be running hot, coolant bubbling back in to the res tank after shut down. I put a new Rad cap on and switched to Engine Ice. Seemed to help. Oh, while you have the tank off, tighten all the hoses.
