Hi, folks. New owner of a lime green/ebony Vaquero, and I absolutely love it. I want to listen to music from my iPhone, and being an electronics technician by trade, wiring a 3.5 headphone cable to the "AUX" connector wires in the left fairing part was the easy part. A little solder and heat shrink and it works just fine.
Ready to go the next step and wire a iPhone USB cable into the "IPOD" connector wires to allow all the functionality of Kawasaki's $100 adapter. Chopped the end off of a standard 30-pin to USB iPhone cable and have four wires. Pretty much figured 'em out on that end. Red is power, black is ground, and the white and green wires are data.
Here's my question: I've used a multimeter to figure out the power from the "IPOD" connector: unsurprisingly, red is hot (12V) and black is ground (I've purchased a cheapie 12V to 5V step-down to wire into the system to provide the proper voltage for the phone). Easy day. Does anyone know specifically the function of the other two wires? There's a brown and orange one. Are they data alone? A combination of data and left/right audio input?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
