IF you decide to do business with ScootWorks, be advised:

IF YOU RETURN SOMETHING TO THEM WITH AN RMA, THEY ARE V-E-R-Y SLOW TO REFUND YOUR MONEY.

I returned a purchase to them 2 months ago, and STILL haven't received my refund. I get the same BS excuse about the refund is "in process", (whatever the hell THAT means) every time I call them.

If I EVER buy anything from these jackasses again, I'll ONLY use PayPal. That way, I can force them to refund my money in a 30 day time frame.

It's to the point now that I'm going to have an attorney give them a call with an ultimatum.

As for me, I'LL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH SCOOTWOKS AGAIN.

They have been having issues for a few years now. I had no problems dealing with them 4-5 years ago, but their service has gone downhill since then.

Same thing I said two years ago. Never again. FYI I had to resort to calling everyday before I finally got my money back.

GA Kawboy,....maybe if you tell them you're posting your thoughts on "the $ rtn". on every bike site you belong to, will help speed things along. ......before you spend your money on a lawyer. No offense to the lawyer members out there. You know who you are.

It took me 4 months to get the chain to belt conversion kit for my Drifter.
I was really pissed at the time because it was summer riding time.
Also they took my money the day after I ordered.
Apparently I am over it as I just ordered a set of Phat II risers from them yesterday :D
Don't need them till April so I should be OK there.http://vulcanbagger.com/forums/images/icons/ornwink.gif
Will let you guys know how long it takes to gt them.

Not the first time someone on here has complained about them. They are on my black list.

Been hearing the same stories about them for years. It seems they really don't care. I would like to do business with them, but I never hear anything good about them.

Guess I got them on a good day, ordered riser extenders for my '11 earlier this year they were quick to deliver and quality was good as well.

Will probably think twice after hearing all the problems everyone is having. Nothing worse than a business that won't stand behind their product and or service.

Good luck, hope they take care of this soon for ya...

Credit cards have very good buyer's protection too. If that is how you paid, you may try going through their process before paying an attorney.

Received email from Scootworks.
Chrome risers for my bike out of stock but have polished.
I said OK, switch my order to polished and reimburse my paypal account the correct amount.
They said "Will do Tim and Thanks for your business"
We will see what happens as far how long it takes to get order and how fast they put the difference back in my paypal account.

They have had issues for years. I know one person who sold him some rims for a project over 6 years ago and hasn't received full payment yet. There have been many complaints of his business and he has a failing better business report.

While this was 4 years ago, I purchased a set of slip ons for another bike I owned from them. They took the payment but very quickly replied they were having fabrication issues. After about 5 months I asked them to cancel and refund. That took 2 more months. I've not used them since. There are many other more responsive and responsible businesses out there.

I live in a small town where you better do what you're supposed to or you'll be out of business quick...you can only fool the people so often before word get's around. I have an online business too, and have always treated the internet as if it would have that would have that same "small town" effect of spreading information so thoroughly that it keeps people honest - especially on forums where you trust the folks giving out the information because you feel like you know them. I always conduct myself as if the slightest unscrupulous or dishonest transaction would be financial suicide, even if the customer is wrong or you know they've abused a product, you give a cheerful refund or whatever it takes to keep them happy. Apparently there are some out there who disregard that aspect of the internet and exploit it's ability to cast such a wide net that the occasional unsuspecting fish falls in. Pathetic.

I ordered a brake pedal from them and they hit my credit card that day for the $. After not receiving the item in 2 weeks I called and inquired. Was told it would ship later that week. Two weeks later inquired again, same response. It took me four months to get my money refunded. They said they were having issues with their chroming guy. A few months later I called and they had the pedal in stock so I ordered it. It shipped the same day and was a beautiful piece, more than happy with it. Would NEVER do business with them again.

They use their Customers as a bank. A while back there was a hard luck story about "bad times". Shorthly thereafter there was a story that they were in the process of building a new building and that caused the shipping delay. Although the money was already in their pocket. There is always another story. As I stated previously, NEVER AGAIN!

Issues with Dave (Tweek) Hockaday and his Scootworks business have been openly discussed on VROC for quite a few years now.

Most notably #940 Tweek's extremely large debt owed to #288 Curtis "EZ", which was incurred in 2005, and as far as I'm aware is not yet fully resolved. Abysmal and inexcusable treatment of one longtime member by another. Curtis was by no means Scootworks only victim though, there have been plenty.

It's a shame, since some of their stuff (not including the belt-drive 800 conversion) is pretty good... When I bought my Phat II risers, I was only prepared to buy them used from a member here (thanks again DR1600). No way would I ever send Scootworks any of my money directly.

Tim
Back when I ordered the same risers as you I had waited 4 weeks for the chrome ones and kept getting the "my chromer is behind" story.
Finally a lady had replied to my email and stated the polished ones are in stock.
3 days later I got the polished ones. In turn however I did my own polishing job on them since the ones I received had machining lines in them and when I inquired about the quality of the polished the response was basically that's how they are that's how they come.
After about an hour on each I have them looking like glass now.

Here is the email I got from Scootworks today.
They didn't have chrome so I switched my order to polished.
Clayton, what did you polish yours with?
Any way, here is the response I got.

Hi Tim,

I hope you read a lot of good things, too. I'd hope that people weren't unhappy with our service that we're shipping 50+ packages a day to. I got your update on Tuesday evening, and passed that on to shipping, it was picked, packed, and readied for shipment yesterday. You should get a tracking # in your email today, and I suspect accounting will process the refund at that same time. Let me know if I can help you with anything else, and thanks for your business.

So far I am happy with the transaction.

I learned that lesson real quick moving from a town of 17,000 people to a city of 4,000,000.

You'd never get away with that kind of crap in a small town. They'd have you out in no time. I miss that part about small town living.

Well, got my order from ScootWorks today.
Less than a week and had my refund in 3 days.
Maybe they have a list of customers who bad mouth them and make them wait while they fill the orders of the more understanding customers :tehe:

Well. Finally. A resolution to my issue with ScootWorks.
I called BOA and related my problem getting a refund. Told boa that scootworks had my money and their product back, and jackass dave not only wouldn't do the refund, now scootworks didnt answer their phone any more.
BOA issued me a temp refund for the entire purchase amount pending an investigation.
That got dave the jackasses attention pronto. He was going to eat the whole amount, including shipping.
Low and behold, 3 days later I get an email showing the refund, minus shipping.

So, jackass dave, if you happen to read this, know this. I will be posting my experience with SCOOTWORKS, ZEBULON, N.C. on EVERY forum I can find for every manufacturer you deal with.
You picked the wrong white boy to mess with this time, pal.

KawBoy - I'm glad you shared your experience and I can tell you're still steamed but I have to comment - now that the issue is resolved it seems like you really want to kick the punishment into high gear. That can have a way of backfiring if you're too zealous... can make you look like the jackass. In fact I'm already wondering if you might not have initiated animosity by your actions the second something did not go flawless. I've had customers go bonkers on me and gotta admit the motivation to help them out goes way down once tempers get involved. Not saying you started it, nor that their actions were justified - just saying when "thou dost protest too much" it starts to make people wonder. A little reservation can be more credible.

You must have missed the part about it being 2 1/2 months since I shipped their products back to them, huh?

You either have the patience of a saint or more money than you need.

Deal with scootworks; dont deal them. I dont care. Don't come complaining if you get on the wrong side of doing business with them. Don't you think other people need to know this stuff?

Nope, I didn't miss it - I think you were treated shabby and I already stated that in a previous post and thanked you for bringing it to our attention. Maybe I shouldn't have said anything but your threat about going to every forum and trashing Scootwork's name struck me as obsessive or excessive, and if it strikes others that way too you may do your cause more harm than good. Actually I'm on your side buddy.

I'll relay a small story.
Years ago I befriended a small-time guitar amp builder who was active in a music forum I frequented. This guy was a loudmouth and kinda cocky, and in spite of being brilliant at his craft he was a nightmare of the internet. He got in more flame wars than I have ever seen before or since and I would try to coach him how to avoid those situations which I assumed would be disasterous for his reputation. But he told me it was amazing that after any heated argument he would invariably get a rush of orders and fresh interest in his products. Human nature can be a fickle thing.

I got my order in a timely manner, see my previous post.
I had a few email conversations with Dave and ask him if he was aware of the negative comments about his business on some of the forums.
He said he does not read the forums as it does not do any good to argue with people who have already made up there mind.
They said they ship 50+ items a day so they figure they are doing something right.
Hey, I;m just saying............

Just for fun I Googled "beware of Scootworks" and links to 17 different motorcycle forums came up. He certainly doesn't prey only on Vulcans. :D The guy has a "real" reputation. :wtf:
