View Full Version : Exciting Announcement!!!

The VBA Staff is excited to announce the possibility of hosting the largest Vulcan rally in history!
Our Staff and Board Members have been in contact with the Vulcan Riders Association discussing the possibility of hosting a joint rally in 2015. This announcement is meant to help us get a feel for what all the VBA members think about this prospect generally. Details of the rally have yet to be decided, pending acceptance of the idea among both VBA and VRA members, but the rally would likely take place in June of 2015 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
We are excited about this prospective event and believe that coordinating with VRA, and pooling our resources, will give us the opportunity to host a bigger and better rally, to meet new people, to garner greater interest from Kawasaki, and to have a great time riding and swapping stories with our like-minded VRA friends.
Please feel free to discuss thoughts and questions about this opportunity.

Just got back from AR. , great roads lots of curves and vertical changes. State hwy 7 from Mountain Home to Jasper and 74 west from Jasper have a lot of twists.

Well, its an 850 mile (one way) jaunt for me. So I have to get a bit closer to the date to make a call, however I love the idea, and would love to attend. Any thoughts on doing one in the east, and one in the west?

Is this going to be the bi-annual VBA National rally?
Yes, (if approved) this would be the 2015 VBA National rally, and VRA National. -simultaneous- and a joint effort.
Currently, the proposal is a one-time event.

I think the idea is good, that is the idea to get the VRA and the VBA to do something joint. I think the location is good also. There are better places to ride than Arkansas but the Ozarks part is good and not terrible expensive to be there. Plus it's pretty central to the US so might help with attendance. My only concern is the weather. I've been to Eureka Springs three times and in the spring (April, May, June) it rains and storms constantly. All three times we had torrential rains and two of the three we had flooding and tornados. Things settle down some once it gets hot but, there is a reason why they call that part of the country "tornado alley". We might give some thought to the schedule and maybe consult some historical data on one of the weather sites.

The weather has been something that we've discussed...When would you suggest a national event be held in that area?
April-June it rains, July-Sept it's very hot, Nov-March the northern members have snow to deal with.

I live a hour north of arkansas
Normally late June is pretty good weather around here you can get some bad weather but most tornados stay over in oklahoma and kansas.
And there are a lot of world class bike roads down there
I think it is a great time and place for a rally

Sounds great! I'm actually a member of both. So for me it brings everybody together! And it just plain makes sense! BTW, there are VRA members asking about the possibility of both East and West combined Rallies. The VRA response to the suggestion has been positive across the board.
Just curious, how many members is VBA up to now?

When an introductory adverbial element modifies the entire sentence and not just the verb or some single element in the rest of the sentence, put a comma after it.:yep:

I like the wide open spaces of the Great Plains. Some great roads with no traffic with a lot of rolling hills and a few twisties. . Small towns with hard working folks who have many of the values I was raised with. Cheap mom and pop motels. I just finished a 1600 mile ride from here to the foothills of the Rockies in NM and back. Very enjoyable. On my 4 day trip I saw a total of 6 other motorcycle riders on the open road. In my 1600 miles I did not spend one mile on a super slab. Life is good when you are cruzing no matter where you are.

The first few times you cross Kansas are ok. However, when you've crossed them as many times as I have you just want to haul.

That is how bad it was up in the Black Hills of SD. They were hammered. And yes, we have seen snow as early as late September. We had 6 inches of snow one year in late September. Nice thing about it is that it is generally gone by the next day.
A few years ago I was in Eureka Springs in mid September. Weather forecast changed while we were there. Rode home in snow showers for about 100 miles. Crap that was cold.

Quit your damned whining and trailer the damn bike! :lmao:
For what it is worth... September is a great month in Arkansas...:yep:
I was in Arkansas and Springfield, MO mid April this year for a week-long rally. Temps never got beyond the high 40's except for one day where it was in the low 50's -- and it rained every single day. I bought a heated vest after that trip.
On television there, I saw several ads selling storm shelters for the tornado weather! So, these people must really get hammered during tornado season. Just a thought...

A few years back when I still had my C50 a group of us had planned to head down to Arkansas around memorial weekend. That's when the tornado in Joplin hit and even after that it rained for a week or so after that which forced us to cancel our trip. Hope to have great weather for this one!
