Looking for information on others opinions on Diode Dynamic HID kits on the Vaqueros. Thinking of going that route but I'm not as versed on HID installs.
Also if I go that route, what the part numbers and/or bulb sizes for a HID kit from Diode Dynamics. I'd like to do the main headlight as well as the bulbs in the Kawa aux lights.
Any info is appreciated, thanks.
Ride safe,

I don't run the kit you mentioned but I do run an HID kit. My kit is made by Parts Master. I went with this kit on a recomendation from my mechanic. I've heard of several people upgrading to HID kits only to have them burn out fairly quickly. Myechanic has been running the Parts Master for a couple years now with no issues whatsoever. The install was completely plug and play. Very simple. So far I'm very happy with the kit. We have A LOT of deer in Iowa and this helps me spot them much farther away then the OEM light. The kit I purchased has both high and low HID. A slight adjustment to aiming was required after install. I think you'll be happy with the extra brightness.

I have been considering LED, but I'm all for plug-n-play solutions that do not require the sale of body parts. At least not my body parts. I would like that part number as well drof, once you get around to it.
I'll try to get the part numbers posted for you fellers once I get home this evening. It really was a very simple install. Probably like 15 minutes including running a hot lead with an inline fuse to the battery. The ballast is small and flat so it can be tucked almost anywhere. I installed mine the same time I had my fairing apart while installing the Alpine amp but I think you can easily do this install by just pulling the headlight.

DAMN, AGAIN? I thought I sewed that up! :P
The kit I put on my bike is a Bike Master kit. You should be able to pull it up using H4HL for the part number. I got the 6000K white kit. I purchased this kit on recommendation of my mechanic and so far I've been very pleased. Let me know if you gents have any other questions.

I assume this is the kit: http://www.amazon.com/BikeMaster-6000K-H4HL-HID-LIGHT/dp/B0041CFVO8
Would this be the same kit you use in the oem aux lights as well as the headlight? (3 kits total for all the lights?)
I didn't put the aux lights on my bike. I don't believe this bulb would match up to the bulbs in the Aux kit but I could be wrong. I only put this kit in the original headlight location.

The system you need for the aux. lights is an H8/H9/H11, and bikemaster makes this kit as well... check their webpage

Thank you kindly! Do you also recommend the BikeMaster products?

Finally got around to doing a little research on the BikeMaster products for the Aux lights. The Kawa Aux lights use a H8 bulb with a 90 degree bend in the base. BikeMaster does not carry a H8 bulb. They do carry a H11 bulb which would fit in a H8 slot; however, the H11 bulb they carry does not have a 90 degree bend. At this time, it does not appear that BikeMaster will be able to provide a HID bulb for the Kawa Aux lights, only the main headlight. (Source: Daniel Ward, BikeMaster Products)
Any other suggestions from anyone regarding reliable HID systems for the auxiliary lights in on the Vaquero?

I'm running A&R Motorsports HID unit (universal) in my Vaquero....I went with the 6000K bulb as I have in my other bike.
There setup is small and easy plug/play. HID is for Low Beam only, but also has a separate halogen that would limp you home on high beam if the HID ever failed.

This is for the main headlight....haven't explored aux lights

DDM tuning is the one I bought, 55 watts and 5k lumens all plug and play.

I went with the 35w HID lights from DDM Tunning. They cautioned me about going any higher in wattage as the bulbs will overheat the small driving lights.
They are great, they really light up the world.

How hard is the nose of the Vaq to get to? I have plans for lighting but am intimidated by all the fiberglass.
diode dynamics is a great company. They are here in st louis and I have bought several kits for them for different vehicles. My brother has also bought a few car kits and never had an issue with any of the kits. i would recommend them for sure.
