Saddle Bag Top Rails

Okay,

Can somebody tell me the difference between the Vaquero Top Rails and the Nomad Top Rails? Since I have the 2007 Nomad and the 2012 Vaquero in my garage. Side by side, both bikes saddle bags look virtually identical except for the added reflector. But it seems as though they both have different part numbers for the rails.

Maybe a slightly different design could account for the different part #'s.

The 1500/1600 Nomad and Vaquero saddlebags are identical other than a slight modification to the doors. Any of those bags could be put on any of those bikes. (You have to relocate the rear hook about an inch between the two.)

I thought I wasn't going crazy. All three models the 1500, 1600, and 1700 are listed with different part numbers and prices.

The 1700 Vaquero is the only one with the old Nomad bags. The 1700 Nomad and Voyager have the top loading bags.

The side opening bags have a small hook mounted on the back of the body towards the top. On the Vaquero, it's about an inch higher but you can see the indentation where it was originally located on the 1500/1600s. The rest of the body is identical. The door of the Vaquero is what's slightly different. The older Nomad doors had 3 grooves filled with aluminum strips. With the Vaquero, the grooves have been removed (door smoothed) and a reflector was added. The doors are interchangable between the earlier Nomads and the Vaquero.

Does anyone know if the Vaquero/Nomad top rails fit on the Voyager? I'm asking because of the price difference.

The Voyager has the top load bags like all the 1700's. The Vaquero has the older style bags that are like the old 15 &1600"s. So the rails would have to be for the top load style which is only the 1700 Nomad or Voyager.

My question was for the top rail that go on top of the saddlebags, like saddlebag luggage racks. The curve of the top of 1500/1600 and Voyager saddlebags look close to the same and the 1500/1600 are cheaper.

I like the top load bagas on my 1700 voyager the best.....
